Shredded limbs -no hearts [josie] - Akkadian - 09-05-2016 Akkadian "Awk-ay-dee-Uhn" Twin shadows soared across the lands as the matching pair held a rough pace. He pushed them hard, desperate to escape emotions that a warrior had no business feeling. Outrunning the demons of his making. Steely eyes were set, mouth thin and grim. They chased the sun as it sank below the horizon, and soon their dark bodies would fade into the night. He was surprised she could keep up so effortlessly, her graceful figure dancing lightly beside and behind him, letting him lead. More and more he found she was not just lovely face. It stirred confusing things in him, and he wasn't at all sure what was happening to him. He was used to being in control, and it made him uncomfortable. She made him feel powerless. So why then, did he let her near? A soft growl rumbled from him and he gently eased them to a stop. They were in a desert of sorts; a desert of tall grasses. The field glowed a sleepy orange in the sunset, and if it weren't for the tickling against his legs he might pretend it was somewhere back in his homeland. His sides pulsed with his panting. Hurt and emotional torment dulled his eyes as he looked at her. He didn't want to talk about what they had just left behind, but he couldn't get it out of his head how she'd almost put herself in danger to protect him. Him, the guardian. The mask he wore so often fell back into place, his eyes hard once more. Why did you do that?he demanded. He wasn't sure what he felt about it but he knew he couldn't allow her to do it again. He was the soldier, the bodyguard, nobody was supposed to protect him. He was meant to be expendable. His words were vague. He didn't care. Nevermind.he cut in before she could answer. Don't do it again. His words were cold, as he often was. The vulnerable child within him effectively hidden away, the hard warrior returned. @[Josie]
RE: Shredded limbs -no hearts [josie, any] - Josie - 09-05-2016 OOC: oooo she mad! lol RE: Shredded limbs -no hearts [josie, any] - Akkadian - 09-05-2016 Akkadian "Awk-ay-dee-Uhn" He found he was not immune to her touch. He could still feel it. Her light tapping when they had occasionally brushed together as they ran here, as if his skin decided without his consent to memorize the sensation. Noted, too, her silence, allowing him his thoughts. It was like she understood him, what he needed as he needed it. Why did his chest tighten at that? A prickle of... fear. His words upset her, and she grew rigid with anger. Good, he could handle anger. He knew anger. Familiar territory. Her eyes threw blades at him, and she questioned him with a challenge in her voice. His eyes flashed in response. Her perfect body straightened to her fullest height. A challenge. He knew that, too. Agile form pounced to her with deadly grace, holding his head mere inches from hers. Eyes furiously ablaze with an answering flame to her fiery provocation. A memory slipped through. He remembered a time when they were in a very similar position, her nose a hair's breadth from his. That day they met. His face faltered, confusion dowsing his inferno. Something shifted within him, uncontrolled. It felt like... something melted. Once solid and sure, this thing in him softened and thawed. Fear returned; that foreign, disgusting emotion. It took over him, his eyes widened and he found he had scrambled backward, retreated from her. What kind of magic did she cast on him, to remove his soldier's mind? His thoughts silenced him for a moment, but he swiftly regained his composure. He dared not move toward her for fear she'd break him again. His face hardened once more. Do not fight my battles. I ! am the warrior. he said firmly, glaring at her with frigid eyes. I am Guardian!he snapped, translating his name. Why did it matter?, he questioned himself silently. Not only pride and honor was at stake here. What was it? Women fought all the time, even in his foreign culture. So why would it matter if she did? And he realized it was because she'd done it for his sake. On his behalf. Not her child, or her flesh and blood. For him. That's what bothered him. Nobody should ever get hurt fighting for him, protecting him. Especially not her... RE: Shredded limbs -no hearts [josie, any] - Josie - 09-10-2016 @[Toli] OOC: sorry this is so short and crappy and it took me so long to reply RE: Shredded limbs -no hearts [josie, any] - Akkadian - 09-24-2016 Akkadian "Awk-ay-dee-Uhn" His mind was racing, but he held solid with uncertainty in his eyes. What magic made him behave this way to her? What manipulative enchantment caused her to remain at his side despite his ill-mannered behavior? She snorted and scolded him, and his eyes fell to the ground. He was ashamed of his behaviour but too proud to admit it. He'd been raised better than this, and she deserved better treatment. Perhaps all along he'd been subconsciously trying to push her away. She made him forget himself. In her presence, he was no longer the bodyguard or soldier, but only a man like any other. It was almost belittling in a way. He shifted his weight and avoided her eyes, and when he finally did meet her gaze it felt uncomfortable. With anyone else, he was the stoic guard, prepared for battle at any moment and hiding any emotions. And yet here he was, nearly melting into a puddle of grief over his actions. It was far too much vulnerability to be showing her, or anyone. Like a new mask, his face transformed once again. His eyes lit with interest and amusement, a mischievous grin sliding up his mouth. Confidence returned in his movement as he stepped up to her. Like a coward, he would run and hide from the pain of their conversation. And like a princely diplomat, he would feign and distract from what he didn't want, and make a new idea more appealing to both parties. He cradled her gaze in his golden eyes and gently met her nose with his. His bold efforts hid his inexperience. As a prince, though a lie it may have been, he'd been too high-born to meet just any mare, unless it was a loveless tryst, and none had been interested in the brother that would not inherit. He had focused solely on his duties and the welfare of his family, and had never found such a meaningless encounter of any interest to him. This, though, was not entirely meaningless, was it? His velvet warmed where hers touched him, and he thrilled in the sensation. With bated breath, his eyes slid closed and he took another careful step closer. The side of his muzzle brushed hers and he inhaled the intoxicating scent of her cheek, his heart racing. Could she hear how it thundered in his amateur uncertainty? His pulse soared through his veins with a wild flutter at his own rash behavior and he wondered if she'd reject his attentions. @[Josie] RE: Shredded limbs -no hearts [josie] - Josie - 09-28-2016 @[Toli] |
