Spirit Wolf [Solace] - Cyrus - 01-13-2018

Most of his time since his birth was spent carefree.  Roaming in the only form he knew.  Tracking small critters and interacting with a few equines that he happened across.  They were unusual creatures on hooves and they never seemed quite sure of him.  Like he was a beast or such.

After having arrived in the Forest and meeting a strangely marked mare, he hadn't stayed long.  The winter chill had forced him into the confines of a small burrow to rest.  There he had just about drifted into a sound slumber when a whispered plea was heard.  His amethyst face rose from the decaying leaves as his matching eyes looked out into the dark of night.  Small, crystal flakes swirled at the entrance.  Amongst them was the slightest of forms.  As if it was made from the ice particles itself. Help, was all that is cried as he strained to make out the form of another equine.  This one young like the filly he met from his homeland.

His eyes flutter.  He had only ever seen his mother in this form and she had only vaguely explained what she was, or could be.  That he had a special ability to speak to her in her alter form that others did not possess.  She hadn't really made sense until now.  When he is seeing and hearing things beyond this realm.  His triangular ears perk up slightly as the figure has all but disappeared...

The question in his mind remains as to why the figure needed help.  Still the young wolf laid in the shelter he has found to ride out the night in peace.

.

Morning comes quickly as the sun casted an orange glow across the fading winter landscape.  He is quick to his paws, shaking the sleep from his body.  Silently he slips back into the Forest to begin a new day.

The loping stride of his youthful body moves easily through the trees.  Winding amongst the bark and brush with a destination in mind, the stream.  It offered a cool morning drink and with the strengthening sun, has opened back up.  Only a thin sheet of ice lined the waters edge.

He arrives and crouches to lap the aqua.  It soothed his dry lips and as he drank his eyes closed ever so slightly.  The bright light creeping into view as it rose over the horizon was near blinding.  When he had just about finished, his ears caught the faintest sound.

Help me...

It was the same whispered voice from the night.  His eyes opened quickly to scan the area.  Much to his surprise the form stood shadowed just upon the other side of the stream.  Quickly finding his feet, the wolf stands to face the apparition. What is it you want my help for, Spirit? The wolves head cocking in interested confusion.  The young horse steps forward, hovering over the moving stream.

Find my sister, Solace.  She rules over Hyaline.  I have a request of her.  It's a matter of life and death...

The wolf nods in understanding and as he does the spirit looks to the west before disintegrating into thin air.

With a lunge, he casts himself over the stream.  Claws gripping into the earth as he traveled out of the forests and to the kingdom of Hyaline.

.

Arriving a full cycle of daylight and into the next, he stands at the entrance of the territory.  He had never ventured into another's home before and isn't quite sure of proper etiquette.  Especially for not being of their species.  Being a matter of life and death though, he does not feel that waiting is a great option.  So he steps lightly into the kingdom.  All senses on high alert as he searches for anyone who may know the whereabouts of the one he has set out to find.  The ruler named Solace...

Solace

Her back hurts.
Her shoulders hurt.

Her bones ache and briefly, she wonders if something is terribly wrong with her- if a poison has festered in her spine.

Turns out, she was fine - more than fine. Delicate sky-blue wings emerged from between he shoulderblades, ripping the gold skin along her topline to settle, small and wet, over her back.

She was amazed.
The wings were puny crumpled things at first, but they grew with extraordinary (and uncomfortable) speed. Still, they were undersized and served no function, but the aching in her shoulders suggested they would continue to grow.

Three days had passed since the pain first started and she had kept out of sight, breaking from her daily rituals to seek solitude. Her skin is stretched and healing, yet the pain has mellowed as her muscles adjust to the new weight. She is nestled at the base of the solitary, towering redwood when the wind brings her an unfamiliar scent. It is musky, wolfy, and she immediately stands with a puff of air from her nostrils.

The animal she scents also carries something equine about it, reminding her of Keeper and Ryan, the two shifters. "Hello?" she calls, when her quick glances fail to reveal the form of the stranger. If there were wild wolves in her kingdom they would have to be driven out before spring, and foaling season. So, Solace holds her breath, waiting for a verbal response from a warg and not the growl of a feral animal.

With his leathery nose to the terrain, he tries to identify a recent trail.  He has smelt the scent of many quadrupeds but the equines of this world were abundant.  Picking out a specific one was much harder than you'd think.  At least for a young wolf.

His deep purple coat was thick from the winter months.  Soon though, spring would take hold and his fur would thin.  Thankfully cause man it was getting hot with all this activity.  His jaws parted for panting breaths as his lanky stride moved him deeper into the heart of the kingdom.  He had yet to see anyone to point him in any particular direction.

Hello?

The sudden call stops him immediately.  His claws grip into the earth as he swings his body 180°.  The wind must have been in the strangers favor or surely he would have smelled them.  Closing his jaw tight as he observes the bright, winged creature.  She had an unmistakable white aura about her that glowed much like the ghost that had requested his help.

His immediate thoughts must have trigger said ghost to draw the light from the mare to form his figure beside her.  His head tilts in obvious confusion and slight wonder.  Watching as the colt looks to the mare, a proud smile on his lips.  Not a hint of despair he had exhibited that snowy night.  His purple lips too form a grin as his amethyst eyes now look clearly into the mares. "Solace.  That is your name correct?" He half waits for an affirmation but figures she is so he continues, "You are very lucky to have a gaurdian angel." His eyes shift momentarily to her left side.  When he looks back into the face of Solace his smile turns serious.  "I'm afraid something is wrong though.  I've been asked to come here to find you.  He needs your help," looking to her side again the aura shifts.  Face looking now to the east.  His triangular profile follows the spirits direction.  With a slight nod of understanding given, "We must hurry.  I can explain more on the way." His body turns to the direction from which he came.

There next destination would be a familiar one.  The Taigan forests were his home and he can only guess what they might find there.  One paw reaches forwards but he hesitates knowing there would be questions of doubt coming from the mare...

Solace

Quite suddenly a technicolored wolf is there. Solace can immediately tell that he is there to help, or at least not just stopping by for lunch, but the surprise still sends a puff of air from her nose. His features are kind, even if his introduction is nonexistent as he jumps right into business, causing her to take a step back.

A guardian angel? Before she can say anything his words cause any semblance of a greeting she had constructed to vanish.

Kaidoe? She had spent countless hours remembering her adopted brother and wondering what could have been, but the thought that he could still exist had never crossed her mind. But the flicker of joy she feels evaporates as the wolf plunges headlong into more information. Kaiode needs help, right now?

She is too intrigued no to follow.

"He? Who is he, did he give you a name? What does he look like?" Her questions pour out as the gold and cream mare falls into step beside the stranger. Was this wolf truly a Good Samaritan trying to aid the ghost of her brother, or was this a cruel joke of which she was the butt? She withholds the name that so few knew, as a test. She is willing to trot to the border with the wolf, but before she follows a strange carnivore into the woods, leaving her kingdom, she wanted some answers. But there is one question which is louder than all the rest, "...is he really here?"

She wants to believe him.

RE: Spirit Wolf [Solace] - Cyrus - 01-19-2018

As questions flow from the girls lips, he picks up his loping stride.  She follows as he guessed she would and he is obliged to answer each inquiry.  This was no laughing matter but he can't help but let out a slight chuckle at her wondering.  Turning his face to view her as he moves towards her kingdoms borders, "I am Cyrus.  Your brother found me a few nights ago.  He says it's a matter of life and death.  He must know that you would help in any way you could." A wolfy toothed smile breaks across his jaws before he continues, "His name is Kaiode and yes he is here with us now." His eyes look forward. The
apparition of the colt flickers in and out of view before him. He knows their destination and he assumes by the spirits presence still, he has much more to tell them.

They near the border quickly and he stops to pause before continuing on.  The spirit also quiets beside him, looking to his sister and whispering words to the wolf.  "He says he needs you to travel to Taiga.  There you will find a newborn child, his sister," he relays to her. "You will find her beside the body of her mother, their mother," he settles his face upon the colt with furrowed brows.  Pausing to listen before he again speaks to the mare.  Amethyst eyes wide, "There will be a dark stallion with glowing red eyes gaurding her.  Say Deimos sent you and the gaurdian won't give you any trouble." He looks to the girl's face for understanding.  She was bright, this he could tell and surely she knew why her brother needed her to find his sister.  The child was homeless, motherless, alone.  She would understand her brothers concern.

A question remains on the tip of the wolves lengthy tongue. "Who is Deimos, Kaiode?" The wolves ears flicker backwards then forward again. A slight nod given, "He is their father." Looking up to Solace, he must ask, "Will you come with us? We must leave now." He motions again to the eastern landscape with urgency.  If she would not, he didn't know what else he could do for the child, but he'd try...

Solace

The flurry of information is nearly overwhelming to the young mare and she travels alongside the violet wold in silence. Solace had lain Kaiode to rest years ago, and now to find out that his spirit had been with her during those years was a shaking experience. But for his sake, she focuses on the task set for her.

Demios

Solace quietly repeats the name and looks quizzically at her guide. It was familiar to her but she wasn't sure how. A memory of one of her mother's stories is just out of reach and she assumes that is where she knew the name from - she rarely forgot the name of an acquaintance. But even if she can't quite place the name, it leaves a bad feeling in her gut.

No time to worry about that now, she needed to move quickly to find the body of her adopted brother's mother, a mysterious guardian, and an orphaned foal. She swallows hard and glances over her shoulder, hoping that somehow Smoak or Svedka had found her. But she turns her head back quickly when neither can be seen, shaking away the seeds of fear with a stamp of her hoof and an angry lash of her tail.

"Alright, I'll find her, Kaiode, don't worry. Let's go."

She just wished her worthless wings could help her now.
