Was just wondering, and thought better to ask than not. Better safe than sorry.
When you join a character, as in one not born here, can you just join them with a mild defect, like deafness, blindness, muteness etc? Or must permission be had?

Mild defects like that are fine. Other normal defects are also fine, it's just when they start getting more unusual or 'mythical' that it's best to ask permission first.
