life can be unkind, but only sometimes - Leokadia - 09-10-2021
Lo does not know how she could possibly make a promise to flee should Gale come to the isle. She doesn’t think it is in her to abandon someone who matters, thinking of it, picturing leaving Ciri to danger is crueler than anything else she can imagine just now. She hates the thought of letting the star-trailed mare die for her even more. “I promise.” She whispers, not sure if she is even heard. Ciri’s breathing has just become even and slow, her body heavy with sleep. Leokadia hopes no dreams disturb her there as she turns her eyes toward the mouth of the cave, and after a long while drifts into her own rest, her mind on the edge of wakefulness but her body more comfortable than it has ever been, even there on the cold granite. @Ciri and actually for Ciri hahaha RE: life can be unkind, but only sometimes - Ciri - 09-15-2021 all of time and space, everywhere and anywhere, every star that ever was They had fallen into a comfortable routine and although it had been unexpected, the star dusted mare far from minded. It was different from when she had shared a space with Padme and Mourna, different to what she had shared with Amet. The white mare and her oversized wings had wasted no time in making the small cave her own, placing pieces that represented both of them against the granite crevices and jutting rock walls. She had brought in foliage and fauna to make it more comfortable and displayed a tendency to hoard various collectables like pinecones and unusual rocks, monster teeth and translucent scales, and all sorts of other curious things. The scarred mare found this mostly amusing but she couldn’t deny that she looked forward to seeing what Lo would bring next during her adventures around the Isle. Nor can she deny the building tension between them, the lingering touches and quick glances away.
It had been some time, though, since she had gotten a chance to inspect Lo’s curiosities. It had taken days to get to Tephra after her latest run in with the Curse, had taken time to escort Lilliana to the redwoods in her condition and be healed yet again by a furious Nashua. Her fury was explosive after that and she had every intention to fly to Hyaline (partly out of what she suspected was lodged within her and partly out of spite) but there was one stop to make before she went. It is daybreak when her hooves touch down lightly on the glittering glass shards that make up the burnt beach. Her incensed swirling eyes are dim in the early rising light but her crimson stars still flare brightly with the heat of her anger. She can see Lo in the distance, stepping free from the cavern entrance. It makes her pause for a moment and she subconsciously connects to that brightness residing within the center of her black storm, getting a shock in response that makes her whole body shudder. She knows she should probably stop trying to touch it but she can’t help the pull to the strange magic that the Curse had placed inside of her. Can’t help but speculate on what it might mean. She had already decided before she had landed to keep her latest run-in with the Curse to herself. There was no point in worrying Leokadia now even though she knows the cream mare wouldn’t react like Nash had. Besides, she wants to keep the thing within her a secret... Just until she can confirm her suspicions. Slowly she ambles over the sparse tundra to meet her, relieved to see her whole and untouched. One glance behind her and she can see an array of shiny new things catching the light of the rising sun. “Someone was busy.” She says with a faint smile and despite the clawing thunder within her, that lightning in the middle of it strikes and she feels, between the shock, that same strange feeling of distant happiness. -- Ciri @Leokadia |
