Where is her ward?
She had been charged with the task of caring for him since she slaughtered their poor excuse of a mother and the first chance that something momentous happens, she loses him!
Riva had been in the midst of showing someone around the Jungle, trusting that the colt was doing whatever it is that colts do at that age, when the Jungle imploded upon itself as did the rest of the lands. All that remained was some shiny new Mountain that everyone flocked to and Riva saw no reason to go near the damn thing. Why? If it was the source of that is terrible and holy about them, why on earth would she go near it? The only reason she could think to sniff around the base of the Mountain, was in hopes of picking up his scent and determining that he had indeed, come out of the recent events relatively unscathed.
She flings her head up sharply; she’s got something!
“Aha! Lauchlan, boy, stop hiding!” she calls to him once she picks up his scent; it isn’t days’ old and is fairly recent so she must be on the right track to finding him but she figures he’s the type to hide until she tells him it is safe to come out. “Come out, come out wherever you are…” she says in a gentle singsong which is quite a bit for Riva - she’s hardly gentle to begin with, but something about the colt and his nubs constricts her heart just a little, or at least, what of her heart isn’t already consumed by all the years of bitter hate she had for their mother. Apparently some of that was laid to rest the moment she laid the old mare to rest.
The bay tovero stops, looks a little impatient (or a lot, it makes no difference) and waits for him to reveal himself to her.
