@[Ruinam] & any!
Beqanna
Assailant -- Year 226
"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

@[Ruinam] & any!

The way that she looks at him is somehow brighter than simply her smile. It’s the way he looks at a pink sunrise, or a perfectly ripe mango, as though he might have dreamed it and it would vanish if he blinks. But Blue has not intention of vanishing, and he reaches out to tap his blazed nose against Bean’s to remind her of this. He smiles as he does, and then laughs openly as she spins about to get a look at herself. Having broken any barrier that might exist, he whuffles gently against her nose when she reaches toward him, and sidles closer as though she might be a furnace after all. Bean iswarmer than the open air, but not as warm the Resort.
She agrees to come, and he grin, poking at her shoulder playfully just before he dances away. “You will love it!” he assures her. “The ocean is always warm and there are the very best fruits. Have you ever had a pineapple? What about a papaya?” He continues to list his favorite fruits (it is a remarkably long list) as they set off, and finds that the warmth of their conversation and the steady trot that they set when they head west keeps him more than warm enough. Not as warm as the Island Resort though, and when he stands at the edge of the mainland and looks out at it, he can already feel the heat of it. (Perhaps that is Tephra though, the volcano warming the black sand beneath their feet.) “That’s it right there,” He tells Bean. “It’s low tide now, so we can wade over.” They do so, and as he begins to ponder what she might want to see first, he spots a stranger. Blue shakes the water from his coat and wings before walking closer. There are beautiful pink and blue flowers twining through her mane and tail, and Blue tells her: “Those are beautiful. Do they grow there?” The woody vine suggests that they do, but he does not want to assume. Intrigued, he realizes that he has skipped introductions, and glances back at Bean with an apologetic smile. “This is Bean,” he tells the mare with dragonfly wings, gesturing his new friend forward with an encouraging wave of his muzzle “and I am Blue. Welcome to Island Resort.” @[Bean] @[Isilya] He assures her that she will love the island, and she has no doubt in her mind that she will. The enthusiasm is infectious as she trots beside him, happy with the pace and the conversation although she has to ask him to explain and describe what pineapples and papayas are. Such neat names though! She keeps saying papaya over and over because it is fun to say, especially stretched out and in fake accents until she has tears leaking out of her eyes from laughing at herself so hard.
Bean halts as he does and the island across the tidal flats captivates her. It is stunning! She’s struck momentarily dumb by how impressive and beautiful it is, and her mind fills up with all the fanciful explorations to be bad there. Endless adventures! Kind of like endless shrimp, and there might be those there too, trapped in tidepools for her to mess with er… examine. “Woooowwwww…” she says on a slow exhale as he leads her across the tidal muck.
She doesn’t shake off the water like he does. If she did, it would be equivalent to a dog shaking itself dry and that’s just too much water to be flying around. Might be considered assault… with a deadly element. There she goes, giggling to herself again at the thought of that. Until she realizes that Blue is ahead of her and has spotted someone else. The interaction suggests it is not someone familiar to him, and maybe not to the island.
No matter, Bean is not scared. She’s curious though, and it causes her to creep (just imagine that - a pony-sized horse creeping forward one hoof at a time, skulking might be more apt) towards them. She’s caught! By his apologetic grin that tears her gaze away from the wonder standing before them. Bean smiles back, still curious about the horse made of shimmering color and flowery vines. It just doesn’t seem possible but here it is, and brown old Bean just stares.
“Hiya,” she offers, definitely not shy as she comes to stand right next to Blue as if she belongs nowhere else and was never taught about personal boundaries. Most likely she was but probably wasn’t paying attention at the time. She was probably dreaming about creatures like this, dragonfly and plant, and she almost asks if she dreamt her up but for once, that just seems rude so she smiles instead.
Other sorts of adjectives spring to mind as she smiles and stares, the mind of staring that is rude and unblinking. Pretty. Gorgeous. Beautiful. All describe both the island and the female, and Bean… just grins like a goofball and thinks her happy thoughts. She’s kinda like Peter Pan in horse form, only nothing that magical or exceptional. Or lost for that matter, because she’s right beside Blue and that does matter.

Blue glances over at Bean, his soft smile matching the expression in his bright eyes. The muted good-nature rises to the surface at the white mare’s exuberant greeting. She reminds him of Bean, he thinks, two bubbly personalities. What good fortune to have encountered them both, the brindled stallion thinks. Good fortune seems to be all that he has had since he arrived on the tropical island, and Blue is not inclined to question it. Instead, he gives daily thanks to the fairies both for this paradise and for Ruinam who had brought him here and keeps their home safe.
It is as if the thought summons the pale horse. Blue’s ears swivel back, catching the familiar combination of both hooves and small paws on the sand. Only one pair of creatures on the island resort makes such a noise, and so when Ruinam and his vulpine companion come to join the tri, Blue is already flashing them a warm smile of welcome. Isilya – Isi – asks them what their favorite flower is, and Blue listens curiously to his leader’s description of his favorite flower. His eyes do start to widen, but return to a normal size as Ruinam assures them that the toxic flower he most enjoys does not grow on the island. Blue thinks for a moment – there are many flowers on this island resort – and finally says: “I like the gooseberry flowers. Mostly because they become delicious snacks a few months after they bloom.” | ||||||||
