    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Laurelin had paused in his trot, focusing sky-blue eyes on some foals a distance away and trying to use (non-existent) mind powers to get them to come over closer to him. He was so completely focused on this task that he did not see the filly that was nearby until she walked right into him. “Ooof!!” Is the first, completely inelegant word out of Laurelin as he stumbles forward a step before regaining his balance.

His composure takes a little longer to regain, though. This simple act has shortcircuited his young brain and for a very brief moment he just stands where he was, facing away from the filly and legs in a wide stance, unsure of what to do. What do you say when someone walks right into as if they hadn’t seen you there? He couldn’t remember if that was one of the scenarios he had asked his mom about before he had arrived.

“That’s alright.” He settles on when he turns to face her, feeling a little less frazzled and letting the excitement of meeting someone else settle in around him. She was pretty - almost as pretty as he was - with a coat that reminded him of the night sky. On this cloudy day, that also meant she stood out rather abruptly just like him too.

His navy head tilts to the side as a charming smile grows on his features and his next words come out with a teasing note to them. “Not too good at lookin’ where you’re going, huh?”
