    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

We've become desolate. It's not enough, it never is.
Living is hard enough without you fucking up.
Refr and Shual streak between his legs excitedly, gekkering in-between the playful nips they give to his heels. They’ve finally worn him down enough to venture out from the desert. Munroe was always quite reluctant to leave his home as it seemed to only land him in trouble. He acidly remembers the strange Ima fake and the wind-bully. Plus, the meadow only contained nothing but bad memories that reigned from his childhood.

It had certainly taken some work for the fennec pair to coax the wild child out from his desert domain.

    But they had finally succeeded.

Of course, he wouldn’t have allowed his beloved friends to endure the harsh cold of winter for they were truly desert-born creatures. He managed to hold off their advances until the warmer temperatures of spring began to settle in and life began to flourish once again. They were delighted in the lush greenery beneath their furry paws and the streams that snaked their way through the land. He intended to let them try their hand at fishing once the novelty of the place began to lessen.

Suddenly, they rush off away from him and into the brush where their sharp eyes had caught sight of the largest and plumpest bunny they had ever seen. It was instinct for them to never let potential prey be passed on for their world consisted of vast spaces of seemingly nothing. Being a hunter in the desert could be a difficult job at times. The tangled brush didn’t bother them for they were stealthy and petite, small enough to fit in some of the narrowest of burrows.

Munroe attempts to follow alongside within the clearing and he finally sees what had caught their attention. He chuckles at his friend’s confidence for the rabbit was quite larger than the both of them put together. But he was well aware of just how great of hunters they truly could be. He tries to keep his noise down to a minimum for he did not want to be the reason for their failed hunt. He’s sat through too many lectures from his hungry companions to want to ruin it now.

Refr maneuvers himself towards the front of the creature while Shual gathers herself for the pounce from behind. Shual is generally the better hunter and so she carefully places her paws so as not to disturb the thick grasses beneath her. The fur between her pads were great at muffling noise in this flora and she found it quite surprising for its purpose was to mainly keep her feet from burning on the hot desert sand.

The wild child watches in anticipation and he holds his breath when Shual tenses up for the pounce. Closer and closer she creeps before she coils herself up like a viper before making a leap. Refr waits about two feet ahead, crouched and ready to spring if the rabbit bolts towards his way.

    And the chase was on.
