    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The river was beautiful! Bathed in muted wintery light and dressed in white, the light reflected off the surfaces dreamily. Even the trees, with spirals of ice dangling from their branches her heart raced at the absolute beauty that surrounded her. The river, tightly lidded by ice, was completely silenced - with evidence of life hidden beneath its surface. Come spring, those creatures that called the water its home would be liberated and new life would be brought into the world. Though she delighted in the freshness of a new season, she enjoyed the present cool air that surrounded her. It was not like the filly to be discontent and a gentle smile wove its way upon her features as she ventured nearer to what would have been the river's bank.

Demetyr liked the new land she had chosen as her home. It was comfortable in its simplicity and wholly uncomplicated at its core. Not yet having had the opportunity to explore the many kingdoms that made up its vast majority, the young mare was not yet ready to submit herself to such challenges. She was naught but a young soul only now beginning to venture into the responsibilities of adulthood. Clinging to the carefree nature of her childhood, she was gleefully determined to wander aimlessly before settling on one particular kingdom.

Lowering her head to the ice, she sniffed deeply only to pull away with a sneeze. Giggling at her own antics she caught sight of a bird-watching her from its perch just above. Meeting its black beady eyes, she took a step nearer and hummed a tune. Tilting its head, the bluebird repeated the melody before flying away. Demetyr watched it as it disappeared into the surrounding trees. Alone once more, she exhaled. That was one difference that she was finding difficulty adjusting to. The loneliness. She longed to find her people - to have a family of her own creation. The happiness of her parent's had inspired her to want the same for herself, even if some would consider her to be far too young for such desires.

Around every turn she wondered if her prince charming was somewhere waiting for her - her beloved meant to sweep her off her feet. Her heart swelled at such a thought. Though she was willing to wait for her perfect match, she felt her impatience creeping nearer with every passing day. Smiling despite her sudden turn of emotion, she closed her eyes to enjoy the soft rays of sun upon her blushed hide. Her future was uncertain, but it was up to her to decide how her story would end.

@[Aquaria], I hope this is a good enough starter!
