    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Her Ring of Fire
    c. Kelpic 2017

Drawn to cues we could ignite,
    Running sparked a gripe.
    Pulling me to his side,
He knew I was a fool for his type.

    I wanted to be near,
In smoke it was all unclear.
    Only when our bodies adhered,
    The damage felt so sincere.

    Eyes torched me in admire,
    His hands flaring aspire.
    Extinguished opinions of a liar,
I was fevered in his sweet crossfire.

    Screaming his name,
    Short and hot for acclaim.
    Down into his flame,
I will never feel the same.

    Embers fogged the morning scene,
    Standing here so unclean.
I just needed to be seen,
    Something like that felt routine.

Never burned me enough to pray,
He only offered me cold cliches.
Made it look simple to walk away,
I cry for the part of me that stays.
