Maribel is ginormous. Of course, he has very limited experience with pregnant mares, so he doesn’t know exactly how it should go, but it seems that the other mares of the Tundra who are also expecting are just a smidge smaller. Well, a lot smaller. He worries that maybe something is wrong, or that she is expecting so many babies her body can’t deal with it. He’s done everything he can to help her, although he doesn’t really know what to do in particular. It’s something he’s never experienced. But it is not a nice feeling to see her struggle and not really be able to help her with it all.
He has been enjoying waking up next to her, their children and her warm, growing belly every morning. His protectiveness has kicked up a gear, too, and he finds himself doing more-than-regular patrols of the Tundra, and has even considered whether he should escort Mari outside of it, although he knows that she needs her space, and time to herself.
This morning, they are cuddled together, as usual, alone – the kids off playing, being independent, growing up.
”It can’t be too long now, can it?” he was looking forward to meeting his newest child (or children).
