    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

A bay overo mare came walking, dragging her right hind leg into the field, happy to think she finially caught up with her brother. She looked around, eyes darting to find that chestnut Stallion she so dearly loves. Not seeing him, she raised her head, hoping to catch a wiff of his scent on the icey winter wind. Dissapointed at not finding it, she looks downtrodden.

The snow flurries swirl about her, adding to the small pile on her back. She dosen't notice the cold cutting through her fur. She hadn't grown much of a winter coat, her body not sensing the weather change. She has one last hope of finding him here, then she must move down each path. She isn't sure what they hold, but she needs to follow her heart. She lets out a worried, loud call. Waiting, she hears no response from him.

"Chezter!" she calls out into the crowd. Then, a sobering thought came to her. Maybe he had fully lost it. Maybe Chezter had forgotten his beloved younger sister. She calls again.
"Chezter? It's me, Keifer!" her voice is twinged with sadness. Had she missed him? Did he no longer come here? Why hadn't he heard her cry? Heart vexed, she listened. She waited for sombody, anybody, to answer.
