Raxa already knew that Jedi had a point; if they wanted to reach the base of the mountain before nightfall, the trio had to leave now. Sunfall looked to be in heavier condition than Raxa, despite both of them being very pregnant. The brindled mare was more sure-hooved, so she was more likely to keep steady if she slipped. If Sunfall lost her balance, Jedi and Raxa would be there to support her.
Praying to every deity she knew to keep her foal and her friends safe, Raxa walked over to where a well-worn path led down the mountain. Seeing some hoof print indentations, likely the paths others had used to go down, Raxa followed them carefully. If this many horses had made it down before them, and the mountain trail hadn't given out, perhaps sticking to the path the others had taken would help keep them safe.
As she descended, she called back to Jedi and Sunfall, "Follow the hoof steps of the other horses; they've marked a safe path despite the narrowness of the trail. You'll be safe if you stick to the paths and keep your eyes in front of you so you see where you're going."
