    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    some kind of quote here
"You won't run off. You won't get lost.”

A hesitant smile creases the corners of her lips as he turns away. He’s so cautious of her, so respectful. He recognizes her boundaries (even if she does not recognize them herself), and stays clear of them. It’s been so long since she last felt so comfortable around someone, so safe.

And yet … part of her worries. She will go with him (she is so desperate for family, for love), but she still worries. Camelia had promised her many of the things that he is promising, and yet, had failed (though through no fault of her own). What if he fails her too?

But she can’t help but take the risk.

She follows him on the short journey through the woods, dark little hooves placing themselves one after another in the marks he leaves upon the ground. Oversensitive, her dark eyes flit about, taking in the gradual change from thick, leafy green to great rough trunks that disappear into the fog far above her head. She’s so unused to being outside of the little territory she’d carved out for herself in the forest. Everything is foreign, everything is new. Every crunch of needles underfoot sends her ears spinning, searching out a newcomer … but they are alone.

Finally he stops, and, heart hammering in her ears she tentatively steps up beside him, ears alert and eyes wide and staring. He looks down at her, welcoming her, radiating an excitement that ever so slowly starts to work on her frayed nerves.

“Do you remember your name? She blinks, pausing. Yes, a name. She does have a name. “Terra."

And as her eyes swing out to look at the surrounding trees, she can feel the hope fluttering in her chest. Maybe … just maybe … this is home.
