    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Don't keep promises; Eri, any

The journey is long, longer than any she’s had to take in her short life, and by the time they cross the narrow sand bars, Eri is thoroughly sodden, and almost asleep on her feet.

When they finally reach the pale sandy shore, Eri drags herself up on to the beach, and sinks into the sand with a sigh. At any other time she might take a moment to appreciate the isolated beauty of the place, but for now she’s just happy to have her feet back on dry land. Clarisse looks down at her, chuckling. Eri imagines she must look a bit silly. “I’m wet.” Of course, the older mare looks rather wet as well.

The mare urges her onward and Eri forces herself up onto shaky legs with a groan. She’s never been so incredibly tired in her entire life. But as she steps forward, her thoughts can’t help but drift back to her mother. She knows, deep down, that she couldn't have stayed in the den forever. But how on earth will she find her mother now? How will her mother find her?

She pauses, foot in midair, as a yawn erupts across her face. Her eyelids droop, and she takes a staggering step towards Clarisse. “Tiiiiiired.” She hopes they don’t have too much farther to go - she is desperate for a nap.
