    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

And Jia? She knows nothing. Nothing except her own name and the fact that something is not right. She does not know love. Nor family or belonging somewhere. Having a purpose is the thing that is far of her mind. The black filly simply lives in the here and now. And that was here in this meadow with this other child as her ‘companion’.

Her ‘tough’ appearance weavers for a moment and before she can collect herself Jia takes a step back. ”I was merely calling.. calling for..” she’s not able to finish her sentence. She simply does not know who she had been calling for. Or what is missing. Perhaps she had just been calling to be heard. ”I’m not! You’re just as small as I am!” she talks back, her dished head in the air.

By defending herself she had answered him. In two ways. Though she had called it calling instead of crying. She had told him she had been calling for someone and at the same time she had given away that she didn’t know who or what. Jia had given away that she was alone. Not that she was aware of that, as she stood in front of him proudly, trying to hold her ground. Even though it was wavering slightly. ”Why did you come?”
