    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Shirad
Slipping away from Sylva has grown easier and easier. As much as Shirad wishes to bring her twin along, Tauber's powers don't let him adventure away from the shadows before twilight, and she's had her own private agenda as of late. There's no telling why the Fairy had decided to grant the teal girl with the ability to mimic some sort of sparkly dust, but Shirad feels the need to practice in solitude until she's good enough at the transformation to show it off to Tauber. The young filly, not yet a yearling, moves her narrow, gangly frame swiftly through the golden forest of her home and then is heading for the Playground with only a brief backwards glance.

When she does reach the Playground, Shirad tries her damnedest to move silently over the leaves that have fallen with the season. Sylva is full of Beqanna's misfits; it had been in her best interest to learn stealth, if only to avoid the residents of her home. At first.

The star-stocking'ed filly finds a thicket of larger trees, just private enough but still close enough to the main meadow of the Playground. There are others around, laughing and playing, but the daughter of Carnage keeps to herself in the middle of the pine-needled den, tongue peeking from the corner of her mouth as she concentrates. Shirad tries to will herself into golden fairy dust, but she remains unchanged: teal, semi-celestial, dazzling blue and purple tresses. A groan of exasperation falls from her lips.

A sudden noise sounds behind her and Shirad shrieks, her gangly body bursting into thousands of floating gold flecks. Oh, her mind sighs in satisfaction - so fear could trigger it. She knows not how thoughts still swirl in her head when she is in this form, nor does she ask as she tries to concentrate on controlling her... dust.

Slowly, the girl finds a way to control this fairy dust mimicry and begins a slow journey between the trees. She weaves between them as a small cloud, the glimmering flecks never venturing too far away from each other. Shirad tries to fly faster and rejoices in the freedom of it, bulleting around the field now until suddenly ─ a black colt has been borne from a massive tree before her, appearing as easily as if he had emerged casually from the treeline. He looks disgruntled and she means to watch him from this dust form, but the red-eyed colt's unexpected emergence has startled her.

Alas, fear giveth, and fear taketh away.

The teal filly appears again with a loud pop a few yards from the black colt. She wobbles briefly on her legs before turning her amethyst eyes towards him with a pleased grin.

    "Whoops," she mews innocently. Busted.
If the morning light don't steal our soul, we will walk away from empty gold.
