    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    STARLIN
    grit and grace.

The newcomer stops, as Starlin had expected her to, and some of the tension eases out of the young grullo. The roan mare explains her purpose, that she has left someone in Nayl’s care. Starlin wonders who it might have been. A child, probably, but she does not recall seeing any children without their mothers or caretakers. Perhaps it has been a while since said leaving.

“Yes,” Starlin answers firmly, “Nayl is still queen here.”

The tobiano turns her head, looking down the long beach. It is empty, but then – this stretch often is. There is minimal grazing on this bit of shoreline, and most of Nerine’s residents stick to the more northern beaches.

“I could take you to her, if you’d like?” She realizes her mistake as soon as she’s said it, and adds: “To Nayl, I mean. I’m not sure who you left so I can’t help with that.”
