    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The ocean added its subtle flavor to the greenery of Nerine and one grew used to it over time. The fresh waters of Nerine were found mostly at the inlets where the ocean and rivers met. The hide away the the stallion had found for himself housed one of these inlets just on the other side of the rocky hill. The rains and fog that came with spring and summer also helped to keep the lands around green. Ardashir had not seen his home wilted or in the grip of death. The rumors of one land being ravaged by the “gods” of this world had reached his ears a couple times. There were also the hushed tones speaking about their queen and another land being attacked. He knew not is the two were connected.

He stood and watched the little bugs blink back and forth at each other as they floated around. The waves moving in and out on the rocks, and the sounds from the forest around the two of them made Ard flick his ears. Raven spoke once more and he thought about his own journey to Nerine. When he thought back on it now he could not help but wonder where his mother was. There were so many horses that had floated into his life in fleeting moments and then were gone.

“ I hope our home keeps you well Raven. Sometimes this place has a way of..” He paused thinking of the right words, “ Well, lets just say some of the horses here are the best at acts of disappearing and reappearing.” He looked to her in the dark, “ I myself have been known to do this act.” He added before he looked up into the sky once more.

You’ve mistaken the stars reflected on the surface of the lake at night for the heavens.
