    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Innocence is Bliss [Open]

Her pain had drawn her to this place of abandonment. It had only been a short flight for her, an easy once now that her wings had healed. For days she’d sat in the cave as the wind battered Nerine mercilessly and her supply of milk grew. She needed relief. The idea of giving away the food that should have belonged to her son had initially made her wretch. That precious life-giving fluid should have filled him with nutrients and grown him strong. Only, he’d never lived long enough to taste it.

Tears filled her eyes and threatened to break her composure. Her son would have wanted her to help another small one. So would her Sebastian.

The meadow was fairly empty, excepting the fairies that worked to protect the abandoned innocents. For a moment Nymf was almost relieved at the apparent vacancy and she even considered flying away before the sound of a shrill giggle broke through the silence. Tentatively, Nymf stepped forward in time to see an emerald colored filly rear up and chase after a fairy.

One hundred reasons as to why she should leave flooded her mind. The little horse was too odd looking, too strange – nothing at all what she had come to find. She was only several hours old, if not a day, yet she was alone. The cruelty of that truth bade her to stay.

Reluctantly, Nymf approached, lowering her head so as not to frighten the tiny foal. The motherless child ambled around, sniffing flowers as she walked. Carefree and ignorant to the ways of the world. As she came upon the filly, Nymf was unsure of what to say. It was obvious that the foal was alone and in need of a mother, although the mare could never truly consider herself the child’s mother. She merely was searching for relief from her engorgement.

”Little Filly,” She said by way of greeting. ”Are you hungry?

Oh no, Here we go again
