    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The pale colt was uncertain of how he felt about suddenly having a sister. His mother seemed pretty happy about it, and that gave him the inclination to also be glad... but something just felt off. He didn't have much time with his mother as it was, and now what time he did have, he now had to share with another. Luckily he is too young to understand how children are conceived, or he would perhaps better understand that the two of them were not related by blood. As it is, he just knows that he has a sibling that is about his age.

He tried not to let this weird feeling show when they were together, but he felt a little less like adventuring since Arden joined their family. More like hiding. Maybe it was an attention-seeking behavior, or maybe he was just learning to like solitude. Whatever it was, he was becoming more and more familiar with the volcano and its island. The steep slopes were not as difficult to climb now as they once had been, and he enjoyed the thrill of finding his way higher and higher. The view was fantastic, and he could be alone where he didn't have to worry about possibly upsetting his family with what were perhaps very selfish feelings.
