    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Like a flower waiting to bloom.

There’s only silence after the echo of her call slowly dies, and Kylin is about to call her eldest daughter’s name again, when she spots the deep purple and lavender girl – soon to be a young woman – dancing on the waves. It is impossible to not smile. She does not have the words to express how much she enjoys and loves that her daughters share her gift, and love for the water. The sea has always called to Kylin, and she knows no greater gift than to share the experience with both Kyveli and Kypria.

Kyveli’s shout is answered with a whinny, and even though her little ballet-dancer is racing towards the beach, Kylin sets hooves on top of the sea’s surface to meet her half way. Both her lavender ears are forward as she watches the girl approaching rapidly, lips curled up into a smile. One that turns into a soft laugh when she is greeted by a water shower.

The lavender and crème mare is quick to spin around, and playfully kick a splash of water in Kyveli’s direction in return, only to glance back across her shoulder with a smile that matches her daughters. “What were you saying?” A quick shake of her body and a couple of steps later Kylin has closed the little distance between them. Lovingly she reaches down, to ruffle Kyveli’s crest. “It’s good to see you. Had fun out on the sea?”

It warms her heart to know Kyveli has accepted her baby sister wholeheartedly. Kylin does not know what it is like to be without siblings – she and her twin brother could’ve been conjoined twins – but she is glad her daughters seem to get alone well too. “She’s napping, and I think Ivar will teach her how to swim later,” she answers with a smile, almost beaming. Fondly Kylin remembers her own swimming lessons, and she hopes Ivar entertains their daughter in a similar way. But right now it is not Kypria Kylin wants to focus on, devoting her time entirely to Kyveli at this moment.

“So, shall we continue whatever you were doing out onto the sea?”
