    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

just a bit of a surprise.

Since Momma and Daddy were more interested in each other (not so much in the way she knows Dad wants, but details), it was easy enough for the girls to slip away. Mostly in silence, if Zoe could get a hold of her giggling. Why it was so funny, she didn't know. Maybe just that she is aware Daddy is always watching and would eventually catch up to them and scowl at them the way he does. The way his eyes go all bright and the little flecks of purple in them become more apparent. Sends tinglies down her spine. Trouble is fun! So now it was time for them to find something else to get into.

Zynnie was leading this time, and Zoe silently cursed her sister's longer legs. And so she made herself really tiny and leaped into flight so she could find a place on her twin's neck. This is much better. "Think they noticed?" She tried to whisper, but when you're tiny, your voice doesn't carry as far, so it was really more of a shout. Oops, maybe too loud, because she's then shushed by her sister and dodging what was at the moment a large muzzle nudging at her. She giggles, because the whiskers tickle, and also because getting caught was super amusing. Burrowing into Zyn's mane, she climbs til she reaches her right ear, nestling into a safe spot. One, so she can see where they're going. And two, because up here Zyn could hear her better when she speaks, and she doesn't have to yell.

When they're far enough away, Zyn goes full out and it's all a tiny girl can do to grab a mouthful of her sister's mane and hold tight. She exclaims and laughs, muffled by the hair, as the wind whips around her. Running is a totally different experience at her shrunken size. Sights and sounds are all intensified, and she loves it. Sissy asks where they should go, and she digs her feet into mane so she can free her mouth. "Doesn't matter, just go!" A snicker. "Daddy can get upset if he wants. It'll be okay." The words were spoken around a smirk, tone full of sass. She knew how to handle him when he was mad.

A gasp as Zyn came suddenly to a halt, letting out a squeal as she darn near sent Zoe flying off of her. "Warning woulda been nice!" Lucky for wings and teeth to steady her, she grabbed hold of hair and then looked up at what had caught her sister's attention. "Ohh, well ain't he somethin'?" She didn't have to approve, Zyn's feet already in motion towards the gorgeous boy, all pink and dark blue with those amazing wings. Zoe's are just black, but his are- wow.

Automatically, the girls fall in sync, and Zoe burrows more into her mane, unseen but seeing everything as her twin circles the boy. Her ebon lips quirk slowly upward on one side as she listens to her sis, asking her questions and knowing what the other will think. She doesn't have to answer the first question. It was more for effect, anyway, and that pleases them both. The second though, she had to think. "Hmmm... Say something about the look on his face. Soo grumpy. That will be fun." Adrenaline courses through her in excitement, knowing her sister is the only one who knows she's even here. She would wait for her moment to shine, for now, content to wait to see how he responds.
