    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

He is unmoored; his place amongst them is loose and tenuous at best. Maybe he is too much like the uncle for which he is named - roguish and roaming. The thought leaves him unsettled because they’ve not seen hide nor hair of their uncle in some time. Not that he’s seen much of anyone in some time. Then again, the once-prince hasn’t done much besides isolate himself from all of it.

Sviko has no good reason for the isolation. Might have blamed it on adolescence perhaps. Chalked it up to growing up and experiencing few of those pains that his siblings must have since they were problem-magnets. He shook his head, unable to imagine keeping up with all those delicate situations as they tiptoed around multiple hearts and heartbreaks. But at least his siblings had done something, had achieved something.

He was no better than a bump on a log.
One that lacked interest or attention in anything besides a lovely little mare that kept to herself and shared in his indulgence of the sea.

Sviko thought the sea at least would bring him comfort but it only drove him further apart from it all. He’d rather dive the depths of the beautiful lake left behind in Hyaline. The sea was much too big for him and to be honest, he was afraid he’d swim off and not return except to convince Achlyss to join him. He didn’t make much of these thoughts, stuffing them down deep inside himself as he clambered up and over the damp hills.

He had nothing better to do, as wayward as a bit of wind.
