    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

You know I’m higher, I’m shining brighter

    So much walking.

It seemed like eons since he had seen any sign of other equus. His life had become a continuous road leading to nowhere. Searching for a place to call his home, but never successful in his wanderings. Though it was here. This place. He felt something. Something he hadn't felt anywhere else.
His mind reels with thoughts of his past travels as long legs carry him through the tall grasses of a sweet smelling meadow. The ground beneath him glowed, the wet grass reflecting the orange shine of his cosmic gases swirling about his black feathered ankles. Our man gleamed like the brightest star to ever grace this land, and he knew it. Despite  having traveled long with little rest, Ariies walks with confidence, a scowl painted across his handsome dark face.

This meadow is the first he has seen in this land, he was relieved to see some signs of life here. Well trodden paths zigged and zagged through the tall grasses like a complex labyrinth. He wondered if he took a wrong turn if he would fall into an oubliette. He made a "hurph" sound, as if that was his version of a chuckle at his little internal nonsense. He had been alone far too long and he felt as if he was starting to lose it. He didn't much like company, but it felt like years since he had last spoken to anyone. A yearning for interaction was something he was not used to, but right it seemed enticing.

He wasn't sure where the hell he was going, but eventually, after having spent a while following the beaten path, he could see horses dotting the meadow around him. He stood upon a small hill above groups of natives below, he didn't know what to do. He was not used to this, and he sure as hell wasn't the kind of man to barge up happily into a conversation and just throw himself in there and introduce himself. The thought made him cringe, and he thinks back to the bubbly souls he had encountered in the past that would throw themselves at him. The only social interaction he had ever experience was that of training for combat, or going to war. There was never any friendly banter, no friends, no loves, nothing.

So alone he stood. He sneered and sighed, hot glowing cosmic gas escaped between dark lips. There was no way he would ever find a place within any land if he didn't learn to play well with others. He debated turning around, but he had to stay.

    No more roaming the universe.

This star has found his place.
