    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    do you ever wonder...
    ...do you ever dream?

Tufted ears flicker back as ink-and-white steed hears the crushing of grasses beneath hooves. The pace of the stride is far from hurried so, Velk decides there is no need to fret. He lifts his poll slowly and turns to face the direction of the sound. Head shakes to move sapphire tresses out of his line of sight and, that is when he catches sight of her. A female! Her brown eyes are soft and alluring. Her pelt is the lightest shade of green he has ever seen and, her hooves are scarlet. There is no doubt he finds himself caught off guard and, for a few moments, entranced. Finally, Velk unfreezes and muscled haunches pivot so that he may face her. He blinks a few extra times to make sure she is not just an illusion. It is now that her perfume enters his nostrils and, the hairs on the base of his neck stand up. The exact same scent lingered on Valdis' skin when she came to visit.

Completely intrigued now, Velk offers a meek smile in return. He feels every muscle of his chassis ripple before he takes a single breath - in, and then, out. As this is his first encounter with a female other than family, he hopes he does not make a complete fool of himself. He continued to make a conscious effort to breathe at a normal rate. She introduces herself and, Velk notes how her tone is tender and smooth. He opens his mouth to answer her question and, does his best to control the exhilaration in his voice. "Yes, Miss Mary," (He makes sure to properly annunciate her name and, finds that he likes the way it sounds.) "I am from the Cove. My name is Velk." He decides it best to speak in short sentences so that he can avoid sounding like an over-excited schoolboy. So, he pauses while deciding the best way to keep their conversation going. He goes with the obvious and asks, "Where have you traveled from, today?"
