    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[private]  One day it's here and then it's gone; Magnus
    #4

Magnus has spent many days tracing the same path that Titus now walks. He has found himself on the same trails, setting his gaze on the volcano that blossoms over his home, indulging in the stretch of his muscles as he carries himself closer and closer to its base. It has been a goal and it has given him a purpose and it has served as a place where he has found his daughter and taken his friends. It surprises him how much the volcano has come to mean to him; how much Tephra has come to claim his heart.

Once upon a time, the Jungle had this kind of hold on him.

The Gates too, to a weaker extent.

But such feelings have faded with the tide of the years that have since passed. He no longer wakes in a cold sweat, nightmares chasing him as he dreams of the homes that have long since been swallowed by the earth. He no longer feels that invisible tie, anchoring him down. Tephra has slowly but surely been able to replace that, serving as a counterweight in his heart—giving him the peace he now enjoys.

Still, he senses that he perhaps doesn’t feel such peace and perhaps that is why he remains so intrigued. Perhaps that is why he steps in line with him, feeling the ache of muscles as he continues the pace, his stride long and unencumbered. “You’re not intruding. Tephra keeps an open border.” It is the truth, although Magnus keeps a close eye on those who come and go. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Titus.” He wants to ask more questions—why he is here, what he is running from, running toward—but he doesn’t press such things on the young stallion. He merely continues walking, letting the other have his peace.
