    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

you could break my heart in two, but when it heals, it beats for you

She had stood through meeting in the Cove witnessing Queens rise and fall and felt only indifference. She was not sorry to see Ilma leave power, but when Dawn took the relinquished crown the Primarch realized that only one Queen was present in their gathering. It was a feeling not unlike that of all her molecules rejoining after teleporting home. From that moment forward the idea was a living thing carried around in her belly, a fetus curled tight and secret.

Pretty little fool with so many men in her bed and no one thinking there’s a thing in her head.

    Well almost no one.

Kensa has never been to Tephra but recalls Magnus as she turns her face into the wind. She smiles, though the scent that wraps around her is not his. Would that she had followed him home instead of the mute boy. How different her life would now be. That thought pulls the smile away, but not unhappily. She is sure of who she is once again, as she’d been on that day so long ago. The sabino’s athletic stride carries her easily toward the brilliantly colored stranger and her expression relaxes into disarming openness. “Hello, welcome to Hyaline.” She is driven to distraction by the other mare’s lovely coloration, pausing and then rejoining again with her name, given like the signature on a hasty love note as always. ”Kensa.” (xoxo)

“I am many years overdue for a visit to Tephra, though I doubt that’s what brings you?” The scent of sea and primal earth is unmistakable, her experience with magic extends only as far as the changes it has wrought on herself and her family but surely the greeting on the wind was done by magical means. Once she understands to whom she is speaking she will perhaps wonder (not unhappily) why it is that Kings and Queens so love to perch upon the border of her lovingly tended playground.
