    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

This isn’t exactly weird for Gaza, because he doesn’t have enough experience under his belt to say whether or not he’s the type to make familial connections or the type to just let them go after a certain amount of time. He’d wanted something with Eld, but she left, and he was a little sad he never got to see his firstborn. Lyris is incredibly self-sufficient, so he doesn’t feel the need to go knocking at the Amazon’s door to see how she is. Wichita is another story; she’s timid and already has a horde of children. He wonders why she does that, why she pops them out without keeping the fathers around. His Ima had always pushed the idea of a family and that a kingdom is a family in itself, so maybe she’s going with that strategy.

He isn’t going to pry. That would be rude.

However, he does want to get to know his son. Gaza usually has one ear turned towards the black colt when they’re in the same area. With his spidey senses, he can usually figure out what the boy is up to, even from far away. So when Rucker is off gallavanting and exploring by himself, Gaza follows him. Instead of calling out like he would with anyone else, Gaza makes a wide circle and comes in front of the boy, looking very spirited and lively. His ears are raised and alert, and there is energy and a spring in his step. He smiles a big ‘ol, cheesy grin towards Rucker, and then sort of jerks his head towards the open land  in an invitation. It may bee too far for the lad to see from where he is, but Gaza's eyes are a similar golden color to the strands in his hair. Yael has a way of subtly getting into everyone around her.

Gaza might look rather foolish prancing about, trying to invite Rucker to run with him. But it is what Vanquish and he did - only there were camels and sand instead of endless swathes of green, green grass.
