    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

He'd suddenly stopped. Why? Had she made him mad? Sreva was still confused, but her body had been responding differently. She was supposed to like it, she thought, even if she didn't fully understand what it was.

After Chemdog turned away, heading in the direction of the river he's told her about, Sreva hesitated a moment before following. Had she made him mad? What had she done?

The pintaloosa didn't say anything as they continued their journey toward the river. After they'd reached it, Sreva strode in, the water coming to her knees at the point where she stopped. She lowered her head, taking a long drink, before directing her gaze back toward Chemdog.

"Are... are you mad at me? Did I do something wrong?"
