He had made the journey once again. Finally finding time to himself, he had slowly made the trek up the face of the mountain, to find the All-mother; the one who housed his abilities and had sat in her guilded throne like a queen looking over her subjects. Why it is that the world chooses to look down upon their gifts, and to misuse their abilities he would never fully understand—and yet, having lived brashly, the children of these days had used reckless abandonment with regard to their magic… and it was thanks to the purging of this magic that Ashley was standing here. He had worked—he had toiled. He had pledged anew his loyalties and was starting to build a home with them. He had lowered his expectations and learned to walk as a mortal man.
Those days were no more.
Coming to the summit, he waited for the mysts to blow apart, his mane and tail curling around his face and body as he addressed the All-mother, looking for answers, looking for information—and hoping to gain back his abilities in return. “I have seen the sins of this generation, dear fairies. I have become as one of them, learning to be with them, and learning how to live among them once more. What is it that you wish to teach them? What wisdom from years ago can I help impart to them on your behalf? What is the purpose of all this destruction? I acknowledge my part in why the land became as it was—and I do apologize for my brash use of my magic. But I humbly ask before you, for you to look inside my mind and my heart to see if I have not proven my worth to you—to earn back what you gave me all those years ago. Pray, grant me my petition for magic, and impart to me your wisdom and knowledge that I might take back down the mountain with me, to spread to all who may ask.”
