    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

we're not broken, just bent and we can learn to love again [Ruan]

    we’re on each other’s team…

And just like that, it was over.

The sun rose, and the heat of the spring brought about a change in the white wolf as suddenly, painfully, in a bath of her own blood—and the blood of her son—her body turned away from that white furry thing, taking instead the dark grey color of her blessed be. Her fangs traded for the flat, hard teeth of an herbivore, and her black hair fell over her green eyes as her body lathered itself in sweat as she hoofed at the soft earth, her long tail flipping up over her rump to expose her vulva. Her nethers were lacerated, but she rolled her eyes in the back of her head and heaved one last time… Before…

And in a sploosh of water and blood, Iasan was born into the world—a little dark boy wise beyond his years. His pink hooves pounded the earth with little to no force as he struggles to stand, his wet body and eyes bugged out, looking for someone.. For his mother and father.

Reagan looked up at Ruan, before one last great push released the placenta and she shook, rolling back to stand, urging her small child to drink.

She eyed Ruan. He seemed different to her. She found that she missed his touch, and silently begged him to join her and their little family. “Ru… it seems there is no need to leave…” She exhales. She smiles.

“Come and meet your wolf pup.”

And before they knew it, her pain was over. Just in time, she transformed back to her noble grace. A beautiful gray that always looked as soft as it truly was. Emerald accented the tips of her hair, glittered in her powerful gaze. Even exhausted and nearly prone on the ground she could make his hair stand on end, immense power dancing within her aura.

His eyes finally tore away from admiring his mate, locking on to the strong newborn. His strong little colt. The very first of his own blood, and the very first boy in their growing menagerie of children. Their ever-expanding pack.

"Come and meet your wolf pup."

His blood warmed at her words. She had always known his heart, had always understood him better than anyone. A little gaze wise beyond understanding met his. He felt a soft smile spread, reached out to touch his son. Who would this beautiful boy grow to be? Would he look up to Ruan as their daughters had? Would he feel a drive to explore? To protect his sisters?

Mine. His teeth tugged gently at Iasan's crested mane. He couldn't help but pull back to admire him some more.
Handsome little lad, aren't you, he said, turning a warm smile to his Reagan. Just look at this gorgeous tiny man she'd created. And without magic, even. Only herself, her strength and beauty that came naturally to her. She would never cease to amaze him.
