    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

from dust she returned [magnus, sloene, any]
    #2
lady, runnin' away to the riptide
taken away to the dark side

She is enjoying the warmth, the new sights, the sunshine on her back as she grazes on lush grasses and sips from the flowing water that she has grown accustomed to the taste of. Perhaps there is a hint of sulfur, a tang, but she has grown used to it already. When the unfamiliar voice calls her name, it gives the little grulla mare pause and she hesitates, raising her head but giving a head tilt as she tries to place the voice. After all, she doesn’t know anyone here, hasn’t met anyone except Aranea and Magnus; and one of them is a stallion and the other is mute.

Still, curiosity killed the cat. And maybe someday the Sloene, because she heads towards the voice anyway, silver eyes scanning the ground around her as she moves, quietly, with a grace that one might not expect of a wild-looking girl, one still a natural color and with tangles in her mane and tail. It turns out she is not far from the voice, as she crests a small rise and finds the King and her friend Areanea standing there, and she catches the tail end of her dark friend saying something to Magnus, and her own heart leaps with some joy.

“Aranea!” she calls the mare’s name in an excited voice, and turns to Magnus with what she hopes is a more calm, respectful tone for a King and greets him as well. “Magnus,” she smiles, but quickly turns back to her friend, making a mental promise that she will make up any slight the King may take from her disinterest at a later date. She likes him, as well as one can like someone she just met, but it is Aranea she had unexpectedly bonded with, and Aranea she had followed to Tephra. Other relationships would develop at a slower pace. “Can you…speak freely, now?” she asks, hopefully.

    SLOENE
I've got a lump in my throat
cause you're gonna sing the words wrong
