Database...Birthday thing

On each player's birthday, the player may select a genetic trait from the following:
a) A one or two space trait of their choice (with owner/officer approval) for a horse that currently does not have any traits;

Soooo, does this mean I could give one of my very traitless pony's their traits back or do I have to pick a pony without any traits? I mean I guess really I should have put this under questions huh.

You have to pick a pony without any traits, or you can give a horse with existing traits (even if those traits are currently inactive) wings, horn, or immortality.
