    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

YOU COULD BE THE KING BUT WATCH THE QUEEN CONQUER
    Temples, the lackadaisical.

The orange eyed mare didn't find herself in a rush for anyone or anything and so it is no surprise to her that it takes days for her to find Taiga, the stallion's scent had almost grown cold. Eventually she finds herself amongst the gigantic redwood forest, birds chip away at building their nests with the abundant pine needles. Horses march in pairs, a pack almost wherever they go and here she stood, barely 15hh and alone. Her life had so far been quiet unambitious and without much to pass along, what ever made her think she would find a place here? Among the wolves, so to speak? She thinks begrudgingly to herself that this was a dumb idea, why change now? She's no wet-behind-the-ears filly and has no real skill set to offer...right?

Let's see how it goes for a couple of days, if we hate it, we can just jump ship. Okay? Ok." she says to herself, aloud - it's the only company she's kept for several years now, it seems normal to her. She inhales deeply with a long, exasperated sigh released shortly after. The butter mare was not much on social interaction, it was a rather odd thing to her - Harmonia had not been great at integrating her children, or raising them for that matter.  They say good parents make a world of difference, Temples would never know but so she's heard. Perhaps the child, Polaris would find her or Ruan would find himself happy with a recruit. Nevertheless, here she stands - a short, squatty palomino mare with notorious orange eyes and a knack for observation.

Once wolves had been a big part of the Taiga, and there wasn’t much of the pack left anymore either. Little wolves roamed the ground, and although Ruan was a winter wolf in heart and soul, without her mother’s magic he cannot change his form. Circinae, who had only recently found her way back, could do that. The pack dynamics had changed too. No longer an alpha pair, but alone alpha, and so many others had left too.

But a family they still were. And soon there would be one brand new family member. Jinju thought it was impossible for her to get any fatter. Her barrel was swollen and even though the tall black mare wouldn’t like to admit it, the burden of it was starting to get heavier and heavier to carry. It didn’t stop her from her duties to her home, though. Even without leaving the Taiga, she could still help her father out.

Red meets orange. Curiously Jinju takes the short and golden mare in. Something makes her think there is something familiar about the unknown mare that had now stood in their redwood forest, but she’s hesitant to voice it out. ”Hello” she thus greets, approaching the other mare in a not hurried pace with a smile adorning her lips. ”I’m Jinju, welcome to the Taiga. What brought you to our home?”

Her voice is soft and friendly, but she’s direct. In her current condition couldn’t take any risks. The fire within her was still very much there, but Jinju was quite aware of her own shortcomings at the moment.
