    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

I've Heard A Lot About This Place (Any)
    #1
Besides taking part in the gladiator fight a couple of suns ago, Aten really hadn't bothered to visit the Nerine kingdom since joining the Taiga. He'd skirted the borders of the others a couple of times, to see if any could be worth visiting, but after approaching Ruan some time ago, now it was time to formally visit this place.

Of course, Aten hadn't found it necessary almost, as he'd heard whispers recently that Nerine's leader had paid a visit to the Taiga kingdom. Finding it a huge coincidence, Aten felt the need to ask his leader if he still wished the golden stallion to go visit the large kingdom, one that he'd inquired about many more suns ago when he assigned Jinju and Aten to journey here together.

But now, Jinju was busy taking care of her colt and putting up with the black stallion, the sire. Aten hadn't properly met Terran as of yet, and didn't know if he wanted to. Sure, a friendly 'hi' in passing wouldn't bother the golden stallion, but considering he still held feelings for his friend, he worried he'd end up saying something stupid in front of her and Terran.

Hence, why he'd been eager to go visit another kingdom on Ruan's behalf, so he could put off seeing the black stallion and his friend being all lovey-dovey with each other. Sure, his dam and sire had been that way when he was a colt, but back then, he'd thought it was only 'gross'. Now, as an adult and understanding how stuff worked in the world, well... the situation explained itself.

So, obeying Ruan's request, the golden stallion departed Taiga and headed for Nerine, somewhat happy to be back here so soon after the gladiator fight. He supposed that the memories were still fresh in his mind, sending a rush of adrenaline through his veins. He'd definitely had a fun time participating in that event, even if it didn't turn out for him anything more than fighting experience and a couple of gifted rivals (in terms of sparring, at least).

After several suns of traveling, given Nerine was at the peak of Beqanna's territory, the golden one finally found himself at the line of the kingdom's border. He had to admit, he was a bit tired from a journey like that, climbing the granite cliffs and rocky ground that blocked the way into the territory, but he finally made it. He couldn't afford to show any weakness, not when he had an important reason for being here.

After he'd caught his breath some and was ready to see who'd appear, the golden stallion let out a call, asking for a resident of the kingdom to please come and see him. Then, he waited patiently, his muscular body now finally relaxed after a long journey. His thick mane fell over the left side of his neck, his forelock laying down the middle of his nose so that both of his warm brown eyes could be seen.
