She smiled as the boy found strength to stand, her cracked lips tilting upward in that gleeful type of way. She was not his mother, but the dun mare quickly took on the role. With a soft snort she nuzzled the child, words tumbling out of her mouth in a soft whisper.
"What is your name child?"
The question is frail, for she entertained the fact that he may not know. Suddenly she felt anger towards whoever had left him here. She could understand the inability of carrying a child to adulthood, but leaving them as soon as they entered the world? To Tarvelie that was madness, cold hearted ness at it's finest.
She glanced around at the others, a large wing unfurling to protect him from their lingering gaze. She felt the anger they felt. The pain they felt at getting left behind. 'Im sorry.' She thought. 'He needs a mother the most.' The thought was cold, but it was true. A newborn needed someone more than an older child, and with this thought she turned back to the child.
