    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Her eyes open as she smiles, confusion flitting across her features (gone as quick as it came) and he stifles his own surprise. Her eyes. Never before had he seen his own mismatched eyes reflected back to him any other place than his twins face or a tidepool, and the effect was unsettling. With a pang of longing, he remembers Lynx who he has now spent more of his life apart from than with. Never would he have guessed that he would never see her again when he stuck off in the middle of the night to make his own way. He has to fight the frown the thought tries to put on his face.

Her disappearance was one of his first disappointments in life.

And after all that, here he was back, in Tephra anyway. Not that he regrets his year running wild, he didn't have any real regrets yet. But if he did, it would be that somehow he had erred, contributing to the disappearance of his twin.

Spark takes a step closer, but he doesn't move. Her look is friendly but he is put on edge by something in it that looks a lot like... pity? But then she is reaching out her muzzle to his and he doesn't pull away. They gently brush against each other and her scent confirms what he had already suspected - they are siblings.

    Thinking.
He wonders if she is intentionally being mysterious.
He wonders if he is supposed to ask her what she was thinking about.

"Overthinking runs in the family, I think." Half joke half statement - he has more to learn about the whole 'casual encounter' thing than attacking kingdoms. He tries not to worry about it. With a slight tilt of his head he tries to match her features to those of his father and twin, but the resemblance is slim. "Who is your mother?" He knew Offspring had many children, (he didn't know the true extent of it) and his logical mind wished to place her neatly where she belonged.
