    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Perhaps it was silly of him, perhaps it would be looked upon as simple and perplexing, but the winged stallion found himself flying over the newly spring-laden land with a sort of exuberance he could not explain. The new-found alliance between Amet and his own country solidified Warrick’s relationship with the bronze-gilded stallion, and with spring fresh in the air, he figured a quick flight to the realm of Hyaline was due. Tangerine’s quiet and stoic breath against his ears leant of her spring and summertime leave (as was practically custom for her: Hyaline in the spring and summer, Tephra in autumn and winter) left the navy-bay stallion with more worry than normal, and the only way to settle that worry was to see his friend once again.

Their affection for the painted girl was not something that was hidden any longer. The twins were an obvious relation to that. Warrick would not be surprised if soon he would find himself in the similar position of Amet, where love entangled with life and children. However, the bay stallion takes the trip to Hyaline carefully, soaring over the berth of ocean between Tephra and it’s familiar counterpart with a sort of solemnity that he had not faced in a long while.

His children, the spritely twins named Solace and Svedka, would soon be emerging into the world as their own, deciding for themselves where they are meant to go. Warrick cannot pretend that their choice may be to leave him, to venture towards other kingdoms and places whilst he remained in Tephra, loyal to the kingdom he has always served. With the upcoming leave of Tangerine, he cannot help but find himself soaring above Hyaline’s prestine lakes and craggy ledges for consolation; to know that his family, should they decide to venture here, would be truly safe and protected.

With a sort of grace that would be almost unnatural to the muscled stallion, he alights upon the surface of Hyaline with a swift leap of a canter. The broad, navy wings at his side carries him smoothly onto the ground, gravitating him ever so close to the earth before leaving him to gravity. With solid beats he gallops onto the kingdom, digging into the deep and earthy soil, rich with life from spring’s arrival. The world around him smells of springtime and blossoming flowers, a world so unlike the humid and tropical landscape he calls home.

With a great beat of his wings through the air, the stallion slows to a trot and then a walk, calling for the bronze-gilded stallion that he knew so well.

if there's a light at the end, it's just the sun in your eyes

He can hear the flap of wings before he can see the being that they are attached to, but Amet has a silent hope that today's visitor will be Warrick. It's been nearly a year since he had seen his navy-winged friend, since Tang had birthed their blue-tinted children. And with the solidification of his alliance with Tephra, the gilded King has hoped that he will see much more of the Ambassador. Today, he is not disappointed.

Warrick soars overhead, a grand pegasus with an impressive wingspan and a bay coat that shines in the sunshine. Amet grins happily, his amber eyes upturned as the other stallion circles slowly, slowly closer back to the earth with a grace that would make anyone think that Warrick had been born with those wings. Amet knows differently, just as Warrick knows differently of the leather-plating that coats Amet's muscled frame. He waits patiently for his friend to coast into his landing and then the Akhal-Teke calls loudly for him, standing lakeside with a wide grin upon his face. "I was wondering when you would come visit, my friend," Amet offers to Warrick as he nears, a polite nod of his head following close behind.

"Last Spring, when you came to visit, everything was destroyed, yes?" He flings his gilded head to the side, motioning to the blossoming foliage around the lake. The only indication of the attack stands solemnly on its own, just to the east of the lake - his beloved wisteria. Nevertheless, Hyaline has grown and blossomed even better than he had expected it to this season, and his gaze returns to Warrick with a proud glint in his eye. "Well? What do you think?" He chuckles quietly and tries to keep himself from prancing in place, "It cleans up nice, I think."
