    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Glow

someone told me there's a girl out there
with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair

She's alone but the world doesn't scare her. She's been used to the vagabond life now for nearly all of her life (a little more than a year to be exact) and so when the wolves howl at night, well, Glow is howling along with them. The summer sun bleaches out her pale yellow mane and tail. The large blue eyes are wide and hungry as she drinks the field in. A few horses here and there murmur and mostly ignore the yearling but they can go kick rocks for all she is concerned. The world was wide and beautiful and dang interesting to just let pass by!

The girl is young but she walks solidly as possible upon spindly legs. The short stub of her tail was beginning to grow lush and full as the lemon of her hair strung like waves down the length of her thin girlish neck. Glow cannot hide the excitement that bubbles just beneath, she nearly vibrates as she moves with steps a little too high, perhaps a little too excited but she doesn't care who watches.

The girl finds a cushy little place to stop, her small chest heaving with gulps of air, her heart drumming against her ribs as she smiles at anyone who will acknowledge her (she sticks her tongue out at anyone who doesn't smile back once they walk passed her). "Beqanna! Gosh!" Glow exclaims in between breaths. The sun felt good on her back and everything was near perfect except for the biting flies that like to sneak under her thin belly. They were not awesome. So Glow stands in a pool of warm sunlight, nipping at some grass, enjoying the very life she was given.

if there's a light at the end, it's just the sun in your eyes

Amet rarely visits the Field except for those times that he is on his way to or from Tephra. He doesn't mind the trek, though it is a relatively long one. Thankfully, Beqanna offers a variety of scenery along the way and is lush with beautiful foliage - Hyaline included. The Dragon King's thoughts linger on his private sanctum for a brief moment before he turns his attentions back to the verdant field before him.

The Field is always busy with those who have found Beqanna for the first time and those looking to fill their homes with more bodies. The horse-watching is prime here and he stands contentedly beneath the hanging boughs of a willow tree for some time, his golden eyes roving the creatures who wander in and out of the flat expanse.

A bright yellow filly catches Amet's attention. Her coat gleams in the sunlight and her personality gleams even brighter; the gilded King can't help but laugh every time she sticks her tongue out at passersby and he finds that he's drawn to her confidence the way moth is drawn to flame. His own hide, bronze and gold dragon scales, glimmers like a beacon in the bright sunlight as he moves his Akhal-Teke frame closer to the young filly.

He comes to heel a few yards in front of the girl, his ears pricked forward as he bows his head to her warmly, a pleasant smile playing at his lips.

Amet doesn't greet her verbally, but instead sticks his tongue out at the girl before erupting into laughter.

Glow is minding her own business. She is pretty content to watch the clouds drift by like fat ole swans, and rabbits, and horses...whatever her imagination can conjure up. Her pale head pointed skyward as the last rude aduly horseperson had finally shoved past her.

    Ugh, adults!

Well when Glow thinks she is by herself, the sun shining bright and warming her right to her toes, there is a shiny, tall..."Ah! How ruuude!" The young girl scoffs at him with deep blue eyes before slamming them shut and sticking her tongue as hard as possible before she can only hopelessly fall into laughter, looking up at him with a lopsided smile. "Hi! I'm Glow...are you homeless too?" Dark lashes fall over her sapphire eyes before lifting, large and bright as she listens for the scaley man's reply.

The clouds effectively distract the sunshine-y filly so that he has time to approach and halt before her, his lips twisted up into an amused smirk at her wonderment. When she does notice him, Amet's tongue protrudes only for a moment before her exclamation draws laughter from the leather-plated stallion. He tilts his golden head to the side, an exaggerated expression of thoughtfulness overtaking his face before he responds to the young girl (who has now placed him at the receiving end of her playfulness).

"Maybe it's a little rude... but it's still fun,"he admits to the young roan with a smile, "And my name is Amet. It's nice to meet you, Glow."

He shakes his head at her inquiry, though remembers what it had been like to be homeless, stuck in limbo between the Dunes and a place to call home in Beqanna. He and Iset had secured the Lake quickly when the Fairy had bestowed upon the Beqannans new places to adventure, had been the first to name it, and still call it home. "No, actually," his ears flutter as he tosses his gilded head in the direction of Hyaline, "I'm the King of Hyaline - but sometimes I like to come here to see if anyone new has come to Beqanna."

"There's a deep lake at home, and you can see aallllll the way to the bottom, even in the middle. Would you like to see?"
