    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The buckskin doe stands beneath the wide branches of the oak tree, her back turned to its mighty trunk. She watches quietly as the river bubbles over the rocky floor beneath its crystal cover. Birds chirp happily above her, squirrels roaming from tree to tree as she hums along quietly with the world's aimless tune. Her mane is brushed with the soft curves of the Japanese anemone, their lavender petals curving towards the sun. Amber orbs travel over the land and its few inhabitants as she stands under the oak, her mind wandering.

She thought first of the few she had met in her time in Beqanna, the stallion with eyes like ice, the painted boy with a broken heart, and of course all of those she had become acquainted with in the field. Despite her time in Beqanna, the mare had not been met with nearly as much friendship as she had wished would come to her.

Autumn had brought nothing to her other than twisted vines and an amber earth. Solana sighs, a light noise from somewhere within her chest. She stands still for only a moment more before walking towards the azure river before her. Others loosely dot the curved land that she resided in, their talk quiet and distant on the fall winds.

Her eyes fall upon one in particular though, her words catching at the sight. They were much closer than the rest, not too far from she.

    "Hello?"

She calls, voice soft like the petals in her ebony hair. She awaits their reply, a small smile curving her lips.
