    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Differences make good sparks.
Learning that Starlin had stepped up to join Nerine’s army only made her even cooler in Kahvi’s eyes. The older girl had always fascinated her, and which child didn’t look up to someone older? Aside one’s parents. She didn’t have any siblings she could look up to and Starlin had been there. Naturally she had become the cool equine Kahvi looked up to and wanted to grow up to become.

Being shy of a year old the navy girl was by far too young to join the army. Yes she had grown, but she was still lanky like any young girl, though it somehow was like it mattered less. Kahvi had never felt ugly or unattractive, but she was clumsy and uncoordinated like all the others of her age. Not fit for the army.

Not officially of course. A pair of oddly silver eyes scan Nerine’s land, in search of the grullo woman. First it’s the inland grass, but when she cannot find Starlin there, she moves on towards the cliffs. Staring down at the beach she watches the waves roll onto the sand, mesmerized for a little while, but it’s a glimpse of the one she had been looking for that pulls her out of her thoughts. ”Starlin!” she calls out, more to herself than for her friend to hear over the crashing waves.

She doesn’t waste time making her way down, trotting down until there’s nothing but sand underneath her hooves. Lifting her dark head she looks around, silver eyes spot Starlin and she is right on her way again. And then, she’s standing not too far away from the fresh warrior, flustered and suddenly insecure of herself. What had sounded like a great idea before, sounded more like a silly idea now. What if Starlin would turn her away..?

    ”Starlin… uhm, hi..”
