    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    ARMY
    #1
This task is for the members of the Army, but anyone in Loess is welcome to participate.

There is a natural obstacle course set up in Loess; describe your character as they proceed through it. Feel free to add as much detail as you would like, and do not worry about your details matching up with others’

First is a pile of rubble at the base of a rocky hill. It may or may not be stable.

Second is a series of felled trees to be jumped.

Third is a wide and deep spring that you must swim.

Fourth is an obstacle of your choosing.

Finish the obstacle course by returning to the starting point. Participating in this task will earn each member 10 points toward a promotion (regardless of whether they are in the army or not)

Son of a Red Eyed Ghost

Failure.  He was always a failure.  To his father.  Now Kuma.  Apparently his sister too.  No more he convinces himself.  Having saved his niece - no his daughter - from the clutches of sure death, he was determined to not fail her.

The course is set and he is ready to test his strengths.  Find his weaknesses, so he may improve on those.  Better himself for his family, his home.  He stands square and ready at the make shift starting line.  It is but only a scrape in the turf.  Icey blue eyes narrow on the obstacles before him.  A heavied breath exhaled signified he was ready...

Coiled muscles spring into action.  Pushing off with his hunches, his forelimbs reaching forwards.  Hooves clawing at the earth below him.  Ebony ears are lost under the thick silver drapery that tosses in the speed of his travels.  His sights remained forwards.  Noticing the plateau he was coming upon quickly.  He didn't stop.  Pushing forwards he came to the edge of the terrain.  Dropping into a near seated position - his front limbs out stretched - as he slid down the rocky descent.  The loosened stones gathered at the base of the hill.  He wonders if they will be stable enough to land upon.  Soon enough he reaches the bottom.  Leaping back into action, he climbs over the various sized rocks.  A few shift as his weight falls onto them.  Throwing his balance off.  He regains it and with it his momentum.

Much needed speed is gained as his next hurtle is fast approaching.  Trees have fallen, creating a sizeable jump.  He was of sturdy descent, not agility.  He lacked the height and leg needed to clear most jumps.  What he lacked there he would have to make up from in strength and speed.  His eyes narrow on the logs.  Gauging his take off point and approximate clearance.  He could do it.  At just the right time he gathers himself and pushes off with his well muscled hindquarters.  Launching his body into the air.  Front hooves tuck into his chest tightly as he just grazes the bark of the trees.  Once cleared they stretch outwards again to catch him as he lands on the other side.  A few strides forwards and he stops to look back.  Catching a quick break before pushing on.

Water comes into view and he is reminded of his mother.  The many days they spent on the beaches of Pangea.  He had swam in the turbulent waves many times.  This will be the easiest of his tasks today.  As soon as his limbs hit the cool waters he took to swimming like he was back in the ocean.  Each stroke of his limbs below the surface wasn't without much effort.  It took great stamina to move the bulk of his frame to the far side.  He was tiring quickly.  With his head just above the surface he drew in labored breaths.  Wishing the shoreline was closer than it was...

Finally he makes it to the other side.  His limbs feel like jello beneath him.  They shake before they find their strength again.  His sides heave as he attempts to catch his breath.  You must keep going, he tells himself.  Blue eyes scan what was next.  They are drawn upwards to the top of the hill that he had started on.  It's steep incline was daunting but he must continue.  He has something to prove.  If not to anyone but himself.  With another determined scowl he takes off again.  Sweat coating his dark hide.  His legs ached. Muscles begged for him to stop but he didn't.  The sharp edges of his hooves dug rivets into the turf to allow him to climb the height needed to complete the course.  He strained with each step.  Pushing his body to the very edge of it's limits.  Slowly he progressed upwards until finally he was on top.  He stood exhausted at the line that had been scraped into the dirt.

He had done it.  He had not failed this time...
