    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She's not telling him everything, that much is plain. Not that she's in any way meant to. He supposes he should be content she's taken time to talk to him at all. There's that slight vibrato in her voice, though. He wants to let it go, to move on, but how can he? Something isn't right. But she's moved on for him, changing the subject. With a lighter tone, she references the weather. It's a bit windier, perhaps, and there's rain on the air. But there must be other indicators, for her to delay his journey.

She grazes his shoulder once again, pulling him from the shore with a light touch. He hesitates a moment, unwilling to leave his cove. It had become a haven to him, a space he felt secure in, no matter the weather. In the end, he turned to follow her. A corner of his expressive mouth curved upwards into a little half smile. "If my queen wishes it, how could I refuse?" His little laugh matches her own, as he follows the sound of her sashaying ahead of him. It triggers something primal in his brain. Chemicals mixing in new, intoxicating ways. The surface beneath his feet changes from gritty sand to softer beach grass. They've gone uphill as well. It must be a hell of a storm blowing in, if she wanting them higher up. He brushes unintentionally closer, encountering the stiff softness of feathers against his shoulder. So she is winged? He amends his mental impression of her, adding expansive wings to his sketch of her height and general shape. Of course, he has not touched her more than simple brushings, not enough to know the true shape of her. So the wings have been tacked on to his 'general horse' shape idea.

"What do you see?" He asked after a moment of silence. He liked asking this every so often, wondering just what others were able to see. He was intrigued by the unique perspectives each new horse he met held. His brother saw the world in words of prose and rhyme. Nyxa took the world as her prison and her oyster in equal measure, each new discovery an adventure in waiting. He wanted to know how Krone viewed the world.

She feels him brush against her, the warmth of his body sending a wave of electricity through her (a feeling a man had yet to give her). She smiles to herself, allowing her wind-ruffled feathers to stretch closer towards him, to lead him. To her surprise, she enjoys his company. Running a kingdom is lonely work, and she doesn't find time for many social interactions, save for those in a more diplomatic sense.

"What do you see?" He asks. Her brows furrow and her eyes look upwards. The once blue Ischian sky had shifted into a nasty dark gray. The wind blew harshly through the trees, causing the palm leaves to rattle violently back and forth. The parrots above them squawked loudly, wings flapping in distress.

"The sky is dark," She murmurs quietly at first. "You know the wind is heavy on the air. Its so heavy its shaking the trees...the parrots...they look...scared." A deafening crack of thunder causes her body to lurch backwards in shock. The rain pours down in buckets around them, unlike the usual sprinkles they get.

"Shit!" Krone exclaims, pushing her body into Hod's. "Let's find shelter, it isn't safe here."
