    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Darkness had started to over take what had been light as the early part of night started to settle in. Ardashir had no knowledge of the world outside of Beqanna if there was one at all. The large stallion had little knowledge of the world outside of Nerine and the forest as well though so, he was more than a little behind the times. The sounds of the early evening started the lightning bugs came to life jumping around here to there. Crickets chirped and then grew silence as something larger than them or a possible partner for the evening was found.

Ard bowed his head once more as the dark mare trotted forward to join in grazing. “ No problem.” He answered her thank you. He took another moment to look the mare over taking note of how she moved and how she looked. Ardashir did not keep his eyes on her long enough to be staring though just enough to take in the differences in how she and the other horses he had run into looked. The stallion kept his head up and ears alert as she grazed close to him. His eyes wondering up to look at that wide open sky with stars winking back to him.

He looked back to her as she spoke once more with one of his ears focusing on her direction. “ Nerine is a good place and willing to give up its secrets to those who are patent and seaking them.” She offered her name, “ Well RavenWing welcome to Nerine. And, it must have been quite the journey. There are closer lands to settle but, welcome all the same.” He was genuine in his welcome to her. He had taken the journey to Nerine when he was a newborn dropped on the shores of the adoption den. “ It is nice to meet you too.” Ard swung his tail a bit as a few night time bugs flew too close for comfort.

You’ve mistaken the stars reflected on the surface of the lake at night for the heavens.
