    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She stands at the end of the lake, her amber eyes glimmering with anticipation.
It had been a long time since the dark mare had seen her emerald home, the tide of motherhood sweeping her away for a while. For the period of her absence, her boy had been her world, but times change. Her child had grown and gone on to live his own life. It was time for her to begin life again as well.

"Dearest Hyaline, how I've missed you.."

She whispers, the musical notes of her voice catching in the soft wind. A shift in power had been the only change those great mountains had really seen since she left. It was no secret Amet was no longer king, in his place was a kind woman she heard. Perhaps one-day Fia would find time to seek her out.

She steps forward into the cool lake water, sighing pleasantly as it wet the thick fur that surrounded her ash colored hooves. She continues to walk until she is chest deep in the water. Thick waves of her tail float listlessly behind her, the very ends of her curling mane scraping the water. Tired muscles relax with the temperature change, the stress falling off in chunks.

It felt good to be home, she could admit this much. How long would she stay in Hyaline in particular? She was unsure. Part of her wished to see more of Beqanna, but the greater part knew that like a moth to flame she would always return to Hyaline.

Her lips twitch into a thin smile, eyes closing for the moment.

She waits for someone to join her.
