    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Ice In My Veins -[Levi]

    A Gentle Flutter

The icy blue mare pondered into the forest, still without a home to call her own. She did not mind though, being a loner was much more her taste, shes been doing it since she was born. Her blue feathery wings flowed backward against the fall breeze, such a beautiful scent it carried. Although it was almost breeding season and surely the scent would be tainted by all the horses in a hurry to grab the attention of the first mare or stallion they lay eyes on.

She rolled her eyes in annoyance of her own thoughts, she looked about at the orange, yellow and browning trees with a few remaining green, how fall was her favorite season. Although winter was much kinder to blend in with, the fall made her stick out like a sore thumb. She scans the horizon wondering if she would be accompanied by another today, the forest was always full of wondering souls.

Not so long ago, months would pass in between each of his journies away from Tephra.
But that was back when he was a prince.

Now, he is nothing other and a strong body which walks the border in search of anything, or anyone, amiss. Even today, although he is far from the volcanic beaches, it is a habit which is hard to shake.

The dark stallion sees her long before she shows any sign of sensing him, but he doesn't alter his path even though he has ample opportunity. Reaching back into his memory he hunts for the for the last encounter he shared with a stranger. Faces come and go in his mind, filtering in reverse through each one he had seen over the last few years. His mind settles finally on the face a dark mare covered in scars he had met over a year ago in Hyaline. The girl had been the last stranger he had spoken with, and he hadn't even learned her name.

He would never be a recruiter or a diplomat, but going years without speaking with a fresh face was too long.  Following the well-worn path between the trees, he speaks when he is close enough not to have to raise his voice too loudly, but not so close as to invade her space.

"What is it you are looking for?"

Alas, she was right. Another appeared right in front of her, he was silent, how did she not hear him sooner? Her eyes widened as she gazed upon him, he not only had a pelt that was interesting to stare at, his mane and tail was on FIRE. Do her eyes deceive her? She blinks a few times but he still remains the same, and to top it all off his package is completed with red eyes. What an interesting horse for sure, her icy blue complexion was no match for him.

what is it you are looking for? Mura is so caught up in his appearance she barely heard him talking. Nothing in particular she mutters, she moves a few paces around him, he smells burnt like the other horse she met. The ebony mare, she was from Tephra, was this stallion as well? He could smell like that because he is on fire, literally. She could go in for the kill and flat out ask him if he was from Tephra, but what fun would that be? The little interaction she has with others, surely she would prefer to save her questions.

You are quite interesting she said with a smirk, completing a full circle around him. The wind blew and Muras white man flowed in it, although this stallions mane appeared to fight the wind, almost like it was whipping back. Mesmerized by the orange and yellow flames that dispersed, the heat that he emitted. what is it you are looking for? she spits the same question back at him, a smirk is upon her lips. She dare to step close to the stallion, unaware of him, but this seemed like it could be an interesting game.

She eyes him, bold and shameless as if she had nothing to fear, causing his dark ears to pin along his crest as the flames stir then lash - a warning perhaps, but one which is apparently not clear enough.

Levi does not move as she makes her way around, her eyes wandering over him, evaluating him as if he were a gift for her enjoyment. His distaste only builds as her words find him.

With a smirk on her lips, she moves as if to close the distance between their bodies and he has had enough. Rapture's scent still clings to his skin, rendering this unknown mare's charms of the season ineffective, her supposed flirtation abrasive. With a lash of his flame-tail a wave of iridescent heat ripples between them. It could not hurt her unless she stepped into his personal space, but it should make his point clear - strangers, beautiful or otherwise, were not to be trusted.

In this strange world they inhabited, looks could be deceiving.

"My mistake," he smiles a smile which would not be reassuring to most, his mismatched gaze fastened to her own. "Stopped on the trail, looking about you with annoyance - I assumed you were looking for someone." The heat barrier dissipates, and his ears float back into a more relaxed position. "I'm just passing through on my way to Tephra."

Oh the turn this had taken, she analyzed the stallion with curiosity and interest, only appearing to light the fire within him. Looking about you with annoyance was this guy serious? He only added fuel to the fire, the tension was around them was building. Her own rage grew as he continued to talk, she could only stare at him for a moment, repeating the words he spoke. Attempting to comprehend what he just said, did he talk to all strangers like this?

Well aren't you just a ball of joy she said with distaste in her tone, her ears had now lowered to her cranium. She wanted so badly to reach out and bite the stallion, but she released her anger at another target. A nearby tree, it had a large amount of leaves still on it as they casually fell off in the wind. Her gaze focused in on the leaves in particular, her rage was really burning at this point, she flung her eyes towards the ground and the leaves followed. They clashed amongst each other, rustling as they all fell to the ground. The top of the tree remained covered in leaves, although the bottom few rows were now bare, the lifeless leaves now only moving when the wind came by.

I am not looking for anyone! If I am such an annoyance to you than why don't you keep on moving! she stomped her front right leg, gaze was burning into him, as if she was reaching into his soul. Rude stallion, stopping to talk to her, but having the audacity to turn right around and call her annoying. Why did he even bother stopping, he could have saved them both the headache if he had just kept moving.
