    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Springtime has lingered in Beqanna for some time now. The newborns have found their feet, now spending all day exploring the world around them and stealing sleep from their mothers. The greenery has long since sprung up amid snow-drifts and muddy trails, casting their homelands in colors that could make Takei desire his blindness once more.

But he doesn’t mind it. The warmth of the sun and the refreshment of the thunderstorms soothe him in a way that sings to the deepest aches in his soul. It has been long enough that his thoughts of the island only bring about peace and reflection. The absence of Orion still sits low in his chest like a thick piece of grass, but it will soon digest and diffuse away to linger with the rest of his (though few) fond memories. As winter melts away into spring, so too his grief and heartache melt away into security and closure.

It’s a peaceful morning when the blood and ivory finds himself in the meadow. A fog sits low across the clearing, though the rising sun will soon evaporate the low-hanging clouds. Dew clings to emerald blades of grass, soaking Takei’s heels as he moves alongside a winding stream. It had rained the day before, causing the brooke to swell with more water than normal. The muscular stallion stops to lower his face to the clear water, allowing his thirst to be quenched.
watch the mind run far away, way ahead of us
