    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Arthas
    A successful steal

Not only did Ischia send over two equines to snoop they have been playing games trying to steal equines from Loess. Arthas was not going to put up with it, he striked back and was successful. His first steal, Leilan, he visited Loess before with the annoying Trekori. Arthas did not mind the roan stag, in fact he could see himself enjoying time with him, just as soon as he lost his attitude over living in Loess for a year.

The pair finally arrived in Loess and his cold gaze turned to the roan welcome home a grin on his maw, sarcasm in his tone. It was against his will, but soon he would see what Loess was all about. Although if he could not be trusted, and remained loyal to Ischia he would have no choice but to treat the stallion as a prisoner. You will always be watched, even if you don't see someone, I will know where you are. His comment was true, he was a prisoner, although he did not have the time to babysit him personally, the stag would be watched over. Attempt to escape and it will not be favorable for you. He leaves the threat up for his speculation, his body turns to view the stallion.

@[Leilan] sorry its short, just something to start up!

Being stolen wasn’t as bad so far as he’d feared.

One; he could stretch going until Arthas had finally shown up at the Ischian shore. Although Brennen had told him the fairies would probably come with repercussions if he refused to go eventually, the golden-maned stallion had thought that was one step in annoying the Loessian King. When they entered the place, he commented just once. ”You have a funny way of recruiting, Arthas.” As if they were longg-time friends. Ah but who knew, if the man had some humour they might be. In due time.

Two; apparently Arthas had no real intentions of hurting him as long as he conplied. While Leilan was a pain in the ass to most horses and the dapple grey would be no exception, he wasn’t as bad off as Jesper.

Which reminded him, when they entered the hill kingdom. ”So, you’re appointing me a babysitter. That must be the most ungrateful task you could give anyone, do you want to punish someone?” he grinned. He ignored the comment of pain, he was not foolish enough to comment on it even if he acted like an idiot half of his time. Honestly his not being able to leave was punishment enough. ”So what are the boundaries here, can I visit your allies?” he wondered. Himself, well he would not consider wandering into Sylva as a pleasant time or even a favorable escape attempt, but he wanted to be sure just in case.

@[Arthas] Enjoy your personal pain in the neck, he’s going to continue like this all year just so you know. Muhaha

    Arthas

Surely Arthas knew that his 'hostage' would not be welcoming of Loess, but he will either remain hateful or grow loyal to Loess. It could be a long miserable year, or it could be a right move for the kingdom. Leilan has visited once before, and although Arthas was not a fan of Trekori he did like Leilan, the roan seemed innocent but loyal to Ischia, a character he wanted for Loess.

The first words out of the opposing brutes mouth does not shock Arthas, a joke. He shakes his head with a small laugh ahh well we are not like Ischia. He left it at that, up for interpretation. His jokes did not stop there though, he mocks on how he is assigned a babysitter, how it is a punishment. He rolled his eyes, but it reminded Arthas of his younger self, he was similar to Leilan. Of course Dacia came around and ripped his heart out, making him the smartass he is today. Until I can trust you at least, call it babysitting again and perhaps ill assign you the to babysit the foals. A smile tugs at his lips, that would be quiet the interesting scene.

Though Arthas did not expect to be shocked by a comment from Leilan, he was. The stag asked if he could visit the kingdom allies, a truly odd request. He had not given thought to it, on one hand he did not trust the stag to not run away should he leave Loess although on the other hand he expects him to be like any other resident; and that mean to freely move about Sylva. He took a few moments before responding I suppose you can go into Sylva, but you must bring another kingdom member with you, until I can trust you wont run back to Ischia. He only hopes that he does not grow to regret his decision.

So far, so good. Leilan let his eyes trace the hills of his temporary new home, and smirked at his new... frenemy Arthas. Perhaps the Ischian brotherhood and the Loess inhabitants were not as unlike as Arthas thought at the moment, at least to Leilan they weren’t. A place to do as one pleases so long as it would not bring the kingdom in any danger, it was just that Loess was allied to it’s neighbour Sylva that did not sit well with the roan. But perhaps he was wrong; he had not visited the kingdom yet and surely in some time Jesper would be able to tell, too.

The topic of babysitting did not sit well with the grey Andalusian, which of course amused the silver-golden maned roan. ”Careful, I may set those foals up against you.” he poked. An interesting scene indeed.

His question on visiting Sylva had the other male surprised, he could tell. But he got his permission, and Leilan nodded at what he got without further comments.

    Arthas

His terms were set, he would keep a careful eye on Leilan. The roan stallion was a prisoner, but Arthas had no reason to keep him hidden, or to injure the stallion. So long as he remained in his place and quiet amongst the kingdom members Arthas had no problem with him moving about freely. Of course he would have to stay in Loess, a visit in Sylva but only with the escort of another kingdom member. Loess was slowly but surely growing in numbers, and Arthas was going to make sure that the other kingdoms took him seriously.

His own thoughts were distracted when Leilan spoke, Careful, I may set those foals up against you Arthas steps closer I'd have to have you killed a grin grew on his maw, his tone was serious, the smallest hint of humor lingered. Besides, foals will be raised to respect there ruler, something you seem to lack his gaze narrowed on him and a snort escapes. Of course Leilan was a prisoner, he expected anger and retaliation but this particular equine had quite the attitude and disregard for who it was he was speaking to.

Leilan’s little jest earns him a more serious response this time, but he shrugs and refrains from further commenting then. ”Up to you.” he says.

He flicks his ear as Arthas steps closer, and like the first time they met, he wonders who would win if a battle should occur. But he’s not here to challenge Arthas on his first day. Perhaps by the time he is almost bored to death in Loess, though, he might have to choose that unorthodox method. But he secretly hopes to make Arthas his friend or at least an ally, because Leilan doesn’t really like holding grudges or stuff like that.

The comment on lack of discipline makes him shake his head. ”Oh no, it’s just that you picked the one brother to steal if you wanted a disciplined one. I recommend you try with...” he muses for a moment, ”Anyone else would do nicely, really, I promise. But you know, perhaps you’re able to earn the respect you seek, like Brennen before you. I’m just not too trusting of a king I do not know yet and haven’t personally chosen to follow, as you might understand.” he explains - more calmly than one would expect but, he feels that reason is something that might sway Arthas more than his constant annoying him.

    Arthas

Leilan moves closer to Arthas, and at first it is almost as if he is preparing to battle Arthas but his body relaxes once more. Arthas narrows in on the stallion what exactly is his plan? he thinks to himself. The colt responds to Arthas noting that he chose the wrong stallion, he jokes about who it is he should have stolen and he playfully rolls his eyes once more. Leilan sure did know how to push buttons but at the end of it all he seemed to be truly innocent, or perhaps he was just a mastermind.

The stallion than goes on that he could earn his respect like Brennen did. The term earn does not settle well with Arthas, respect should be given unless a reason for it to be taken away is given. Although he understands that he is wary of Arthas, he did take him prisoner after all. He nods his head I do understand, I hope that you will enjoy your time here Leilan, it is not as much of a punishment as it is a statement. A statement to Ischia, not to tempt Loess, they are not to be messed with. So long as you find your place in the kingdom, I do not think you will have any issues here. His words are true, he has no evil intentions behind his action. In fact he hopes that at the end of it all Leilan will stay in Loess, become loyal to Arthas.

    Dangerous Business

Perhaps he is not a mastermind - but he sure is able to pretend to be. He's clever enough for it, after all - just not so very cunning, and not really planning ahead too far, so that the only thing he can do in Loess now is observe and try to win Arthas over - to be enough of a friend that he'll be willing to let him go at some point (honestly, to just set him free for the breeding season would be fun enough for Leilan, although, there are some mares out here too, he knows).

Perhaps if Arthas wasn't so tense about the whole Ischia thing, -which is something Leilan can simply not understand-, they would have been some kind of friends already. For now, it's the one point they will never agree on, and so the gold-streaked roan doesn't bring it up. Not right now anyway, after just arriving. He acts like an idiot all the time - agreed, but even a maybe-or-maybe-not-a-mastermind can get a feel of things.

To be honest, he just thinks Arthas is way too serious about his whole king-business. He respects the male just about enough not to constantly comment on it (after all he's made king by a little girl, and king of about two other horses last time he visited); he just can't really see his enemy-rival-friend as his king. But perhaps as a king if he proves to be worthy. For now, Leilan is just going to stick his nose everywhere to find out how the dapple Andalusian falls with the other Loessians, and maybe he will indeed not have any issues when he gets out.

He nods to Arthas then. "I guess I will go look for that place, then." he agrees (not that he truly thinks of ever joining or finding a rank, but a prisoner must find his place also).

@[Arthas] Wrapping this up, if you want a new one that's more up-to-date let me know or just tag. Smile
