    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Kwazi approaced the land, pines beginning to trickle into hthe landscape.

He halted at a border, but looked longingly into the territory, which was called Taiga. He didn't know this, where he was headed, or why he had such a calling to come here.

He knew not a single soul that was alive now, though there was likely an exception here and there that he hadn't run into yet.

Eyes that stole parts of the sky looked over the terra, trying to spot out a form. After a while of waiting to bo avail, and the tug on his heart only growing stronger, he whinnied loudly so the flaxen maned sorrel splash stallions own presence was revealed.

With growing anxiety, the male waited. Longing for a home.

Tagia was not Solace's concern, but something she enjoyed allowing her wings taker her where the breeze suggested. Only every now and then though. Raising her twins, running a kingdom, and sneaking in alone-time with the love of her life left little time for lazy flights over the common lands.

This morning though, Kagerus (her mate and co-ruler) had suggested she take the morning to herself, and Solace hadn't been hard to convince. But even on her morning off, the gold splashed mare is doing something half-way useful.

She had a bad habit of not leaving her mountain home for months or even years. And with all the rumblings of evil and shifts in power recently, it wasn't a bad idea to keep an eye on the ungoverned lands which surrounded their lake kingdom.

As Solace drifts between the spires of ancient redwoods, a high cry catches her attention and she decides to investigate. It takes a minute for her to spot a clearing with enough room for her to land without damaging her massive wingspan, but finally she alights on the springy forest floor.

Wandering towards the source of the call she spots the lone colt, glancing around and suddenly there is a flicker of concern in her chest.

"Hello," she calls in a light, friendly tone and she continues to walk in his direction. "Is there someone I can help you find?
